ok. i´m heading there, helsinki to be precise, on the 15th may, then heading to åland on the 20th with a friend and we´re parting ways on the 25th when she heads back to london and i head back to rvk. i´m figuring out what to see and do from the 15th to the 19th when she arrives in helsinki. any ideas? also anyone have recommendations about åland? i´m defo going to try to spend a couple of days away from helsinki and me and my friend want to get away from mariehamn and see a bit of the islands but to be honest i can´t say i know too much about finland....

Weird, I'm going to be there at the end of June.
One thing I'm looking forward to is the sea fortress in Helsinki. Other than that, I'm not too sure what I'll be seeing, since someone is going to be showing me around. |
It's been seven years since I was last there... I loved it. Though I have to say when I see their signs it looks like they have too many consonants (always makes me think of that short story A Sound of Thunder.

that's quite a bit of travelling around...
helsinki and turku: beautiful finnish-speaking women vaasa and mariehamn: beautiful finnish-swedish speaking women *sigh* Avoid the beer, it's awful (Olvi and Karhu are the better of a bad lot). Stick to the Finlandia if you can, Kossu if you must. EXCEPT for salmiakkikossu... Mmmmm... |

anyway, i´m off in an hour so will probably be pretty quiet around here for the next 11 days, if i manage to get in at all while i´m over there. take care :) |
