So, how much snow have you got?
This winter is killing me!
We had about 50 cm (almost two feet) from Friday night to Sunday morning. Combined with Wednesday's 25cm fall and the previous accumulation, the snow banks are between 8 and 10 feet tall outside my house. Nowhere on the wide strip of land between my house and my wonderful neighbour with the snow blower is the snow less than 6 feet deep. We'd better not get another blast of winter, because I literally have nowhere to put the snow! |
Lucky!! I love snow. In college at Appalachian State it snowed a ton every winter, all the way into May sometimes. Now I'm back in the middle of NC and it rarely snows. I think we've got like 3 inches the whole winter. :(
|
My kids are pissed that we missed all this great toboggan snow.
I am just happy I don't have to shovel. |
Hasn't snowed once here - eastern NC. I love snow; it sucks that I got transfered with my job out here to the Plain of Barren Precipitation
|
We got almost 15 inches here this past weekend.
|
We got a huge dump last night. I would estimate that the snow is approximately 4.5 -5 feet deep; I'm unable to see out my windows (on the second floor) because the snow has piled up on the roof and blocked them. Drifts and banks in spots are exceeding 10-12 feet; down the street there's an unused car (at least I assume it's still there) that is completely buried in the snow.
That's enough winter for me. I'm ready for it all to go away now. |
A few flurries. I just wish it would stop already. I'm ready for Spring.
|
you people are nuts if you look forward to snow...
i survived the blizzard of '77 in buffalo and the blizzard of '79 in chicago... today i golfed in florida... |
72° F, sunny with a few clouds and a beautiful breeze. I went for a driver earlier with the stereo going. You're all welcome to move here. The house prices dropped off because of the sub-prime debacle.
|
It snowed a few times here in Seattle. Enough to enjoy, not enough to resent the snow. Perfect amount. It's a cool mid-50s right now...
|
I cannot give your stats, but it's been heck here in Montreal.
Ten foot drifts are the norm. Not too much complaining on the public transport, though. Nous somme habituez, tabernacle! |

This winter in our part of Ontario is like that - every 3 or 4 days it snows. I took a bunch of pictures so my daughter will be able to reflect on this winter and tell her kids, one day, how tough winter was when she was a little girl! |
All our snow has melted. Its been hovering around 10 for a week. I actually went biking yesterday and today. A little wet on the paths, but it sure was nice outside!
|
what is this snow thing of which you speak ;)
|
Officially? 31 centimenters in Montreal.
The snow banks are much higher with all the acumulation over the winter but not as high as the could have been. After a few of the big snowfalls this season we had some unseasonably warm weather even a bit of rain which melted some of the snow. Quote:

Looks like our total snowfall this season is prettly close and with the way it has ben snowing this year and as it is only the begining of March I think we will break the record. I will see if I can get some pictured. |
No snow. Sunny and warm, with the top down today for the second time in 2008. Plums are blooming, and I think the cherries will follow within a couple of weeks. Im off to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon next week and expect 80s during the day. Keep warm up there.

i live in florida....so uhh, no snow here.
ive actually never even seen the stuff. maybe ill get a chance when i head up to indy here soon. |

It can be incredibly beautiful. You look outside and the tree branches are covered in it, everything is real smooth & bright. You really just want to jump in it for no other reason than it's there. Here in central Ohio we got ~14 inches of the stuff, was stuck in the house most of Saturday. |
In S.E. Pennsylvania/Philadelphia vicinity we've had almost no snow this year. I think we had a dusting that got a little over an inch and a couple days later it was gone. I theorize that since we're too near the black hole of Camden NJ, intense gravitational forces have caused all the global warming to accumulate right here. Polar bears = please stay away.
|
Hot here... If you can live through the short ad, you'll see a pic. Just to remind you northern people of summer.
(We're actually hanging out for rain) http://media.theage.com.au/?category...News&rid=36169 On that note... I'd be curious to see how bad this snow is. Pics or links would be interesting.... Like that unused car that Martian mentioned. That sounds sorta neat. On a practical note... what stops your water pipes from freezing up? |

Also snow does not necessarily mean cold. Of course it has to be below 0degrees C (32F?) for the snow to stay but when it is cold enough - where even with proper insulation and heating - for your pipes to freeze it is likely too cold to snow. |
We probably had about 2 feet total all seaon so far. Nothing on the ground now, had a few days of temps in the 50's followed by a few days of monsoon rains. The entire yard is squishy.
On the plus side, the aquifiers should be full now. |

I'm also probably heading downtown this afternoon; if I do, I'll snap some pictures of the general buriedness. |
I've stopped paying attention to daily snowfall. If it's less than 12 inches in 24 hours I can't tell the difference between that and a gorgeous sunny day.
We currently have 438 inches for the year, only 12 more and we have broken an all time record. Can't wait. |

Been an awesome ski season in Colorado.
My lawn has pretty much stabilized at 2-3' with taller drifts. The road up to my house looks like a bobsled run. I have to toss my wife's Golden Retriever out the door first, to plow a path so my 40# Newfoundland puppy can find a spot to pee. I like all four seasons, I wouldn't have it any other way. |

I snapped a couple pictures while I was out today. I seem to have gotten an odd glare effect from the sun coming off the snow, but this still gives a general idea of what it's like in my quiet little snowbelt town.
This is the buried car I mentioned above. Look carefully and you'll see a small portion that's visible in the upper center portion of the shot: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/TGFM/2-1.jpg The same car from the other side is just a vaguely car-shaped snow bank: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/TGFM/4-1.jpg Yet another car, this one in the process of being consumed: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/TGFM/5-1.jpg and finally, for reference, a Honda Civic with the snow in back actually a few inches taller. Note that the parking spot has literally been carved out of the snow bank: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c110/TGFM/3.jpg Sorry for the crappy quality. My camera phone isn't so hot. All the same, that ought to give all the Floridans and Californians an idea of exactly what you're missing. |
I just read today that Toronto only needs another 21 cm or so and it is officially the most snow on record.
http://ca.reuters.com/article/topNew...62160820080310 I also heard on the radio on my way into work, that they have spent about two thirds of the money budgeted towards snow removal that was supposed to last until Dec 31. |

ha! :D cant wait |
As I am only an hour west of Nick, we have had NOT ENOUGH SNOW
I have had to shovel 1 time. Now I am not looking for 1-2 feet, but a few inches that stays more than 1 day |
can somebody please post more pics . I have NEVER seen snow :(
and pics of actual snowing would be great ! |
Thanks for that info. I'll reflect on it some more (back to wikipedia eh).
|
This last blast from Fri, Sat, Sun...
2+ feet. Easily. North western PA = help. |
Never seen snow?
I don't have any photos of cars buried in the snow, but took this the other day. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3009/...2ed53e4c1f.jpg |
kurty, thats nice and all, but its just not the same as the real thing.

Our snow is already melting. I can see out my windows again. |
It has been a most bountiful crop this year..in Wisconsin.
