Help me identify this coin please
Someone at work showed me this coin, and I need help identifying it.
I'm pretty certain it is Japanese, I have determined the writing is katakana. What I don't know, is what it means, or what it would be used for. The coin has the same thing on both sides. I figured the collective knowledge of the great TFP could help me identify this much faster. My thanks in advance. |
Looks like a Pachislo (skill stop) token to me. Slightly larger than a quarter?

I think the real question is: Can you use it to play skeeball?

I believe the katakana says "Stardust", but I'm not a speaker of Japanese--however, I looked up the katakana alphabet, figured out the syllables in romanji, and looked it up in a dictionary.

So far this confirms most of my suspicions, that it is a token, not any form of legal tender.
In City Hall, where I work, there is a snack stand that sells candy, pop, etc to the public and employees. Someone gave this to the operator and passed it off as a quarter. She didn't notice until after they had left. But, I said I would at least find out what it is for her. At least she can keep it as a conversation piece. |
