Most accurate personality test I have ever taken
 

I came across an old friend on MySpace and his site had this personality test.... I took it he results are dead on for me. There are some traits I knew I had but didn't want to admit.... yet when I read the synopsis at the end, It describes me to a tee.

introverted(nope), secretive(not really), messy(very), depressed(Nope), does not like leadership(Nope), somewhat nihilistic(what's that mean?), observer(yes), does not make friends easily(I do, sometimes when I don't want to), unassertive(So wrong), feels invisible(Nope), feels undesirable(sometimes), hates large parties(True, unless I know a few people), does not like to stand out(wrong to a point), leisurely(yes), suspicious(Nope), submissive(yea, right), abstract(probably), unpredictable(not really), intellectual(uhh), likes rain(I HATE rain!), likes the unknown(sometimes), negative(nope), weird(duh), not a risk taker( wrong), unadventurous(wrong), avoidant(sometimes), strange(goes without saying)


Many of the questions were just reworded versions of themselves. How does one get 10% into the religious aspects when I answered all to the negative? It gives a 56% Adventurous, then says in the summary I'm not...
What's "Indie" mean? They never asked about my movie preferences...It asked if I wanted to grow up, then gives me a Peter Pan complex because I said not accurate? Who wants to grow up? It's weird....

Stability results were high which suggests you are very relaxed, calm, secure, and optimistic..

Orderliness results were medium which suggests you are moderately organized, hard working, and reliable while still remaining flexible, efficient, and fun.

Extraversion results were high which suggests you are overly talkative, outgoing, sociable and interacting at the expense too often of developing your own individual interests and internally based identity.

I'd say the extraversion part is off. I've had no problem developing individual interests and an internally based identity. I do not need validations from others, or interactions to be happy, but you have more fun at parties if you mingle, talk and listen.

Jung-Myers-Briggs personality test is 100% right for me.

This one was pretty darn good as well.

Very accurate. Thanks for the link I love taking these types of tests. Normally there are a few things that are iffy but this one was 100% dead on!

Yeah, not bad. It got me a little more extroverted and narcissistic than I actually am, and a little less inwardly developed, but other than that...pretty damn close.

I think that's supposed to gauge your "indie-ness." Which, you know, I'm sure it does. Presuming that this is 1994.

There are reliable, validated personality inventories available online. This is not one of them. (It still may be fun to take though).

The best personality inventory (in terms of empirical support) is probably the MMPI (the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory). It was designed for clinical populations. You may have taken it from a therapist or if you interviewed for a position as a police officer (or some other job that is public safety related).

The Revised NEO Personality inventory developed by by Paul T. Costa, Jr. and Robert R. McCrae is also a good inventory and it was developed for "normal" populations. Unfortunately, it costs money. I have given and evaluated far too many to actually take one and expect accurate results. I appreciate your distinction between clinical and "normal" populations. The tests are not interchangeable for the dissimilar groups.

Seems accurate, depending on how you look at things.

Accurate to an extent, but it definitely lumps together characteristics. It would certainly seem to associate someone who prefers a gathering with a close group of friends as being weak, unassertive, second-guessing, etc, which in reality couldn't be farther from the truth as far as my description fits.

That's the thing, every test along these lines, while seemingly looking for the same results differ in how the question is asked, the way the answering is, the purpose of the test "who is it given by and what is it for" and so on.

Thus, one test may be right on for one person and totally opposite another, or you may take the exact same test for 2 different people and because you want to answer one way for one and the another way for the other... or one day you feel one way and the next you may have totally differing opinions.

I have taken quite a few different tests, through addictions counseling and psyche classes, to online tests for fun, tests given pre-employment and tests given by counselors I was seeing at the time. This one for me, was able to get my personality the closest. Even taking it again today and not trying to answer the same but how I feel today, the results were very close, I scored noticeably lower in one and noticeably higher in one... the others were almost identical percentages.

I am against this test ! Gives me so many attributes that are opposite of each other. The part that I approve for sure is the Paranoia thing :) Problem is that even if I am paranoid I do not really care about things, and the test does not know that

The fact that I write here trying to say the test does not describe me accurately shows that I am insecure about what others could think about me, then the fact that I am writing about the writing shows I am not, or I don't care :)

Well, the IPIP-NEO isn't as accurate as the NEO (or the MMPI), but the fact that you found it less accurate does not necessarily mean that it is less accurate. Personality inventories measure your personality, not your perception of your personality.
Personality inventories like the NEO have considerable data both backing up their predictive validity (predicting behavior across different situations), their stability (people score the same across 45 years), their heritability, their utility in clinical settings, and their overall construct validity (personality appears to be 5 dimensions).

The Myers-Briggs typology to which this test (similarminds.com) is related has very little data at all supporting its validity. (It still may be fun and interesting to take though).

Not sure I fully agree, but 95% perhaps.

My two biggest traits are Materialism and Adventurousness. Hedonism should have been there, but I know why it wasn't calculated that way. In the quick traits list, poor self control is definitely inaacurate, but I also see why it was put in there.

The thing that felt strangest is that this is the first time I've ever described my ethnicity as "Other."

True, and I thought of that of course. Whats interesting is that the individual traits seem pretty well on, but I don't think their groupings work out as well.

For example on the Openness scale, I'm average to high on everything but liberalism. Because I am low on liberalism I am therefore, according to them, Low on the openness scale even though thats the only trait that was low in the grouping.

Pretty accurate. Although, the materialism and work ethic are a little off.

Anyone who likes this sort of thing should take a Myers-Briggs test. :)

The MB I've found to be VERY accurate over the years. I've taken it probably 5-6 different times, from my early teens until recently.

What's surprised me most about it, is that although my personality, interests, and general outgoingness has changed dramatically over the years, it has pegged me with the same result every time (INTJ).

Guess this is pretty close...

I agree with most of the test except for the Physical Fitness being at 24%. WTF! I must have not been paying attention when those questions were asked. I'm pretty confident about my body although it is true I have a few pounds to shed. Also, I wouldn't say I'm not assertive. While that may have been true when I was younger, I am certainly much more assertive now. I got run over a few too many times by stronger personalities to not learn to be more assertive. Also I wouldn't say I'm secretive either. Far from it. I just choose not to tell my life story to anyone. However if you ask me a direct personal question, I'll usually answer truthfully. Also, what was with the Pixie question? I honestly couldn't recall who they were at the time of the test.
