How do we react when TFP is unavailable?
I am wondering how we all react when we can't log in for some reason..
My hands begin to shake in a withdrawal fashion.. I wonder if hitting the refresh button too many times is a bad idea. I eventually go do a load of laundrey and get my dishes done, and swear to never take TFP for granted.. and the rush of bliss when things are up and running again makes me smile. |

I'm thinking, "Motherfuck.. not again. God damn it." Then I write the post I am thinking about in notepad and wait to copy/paste it when the host finally reboots the server.

Today, I took it as a blessing in disguise. I was supposed to be studying when the site went down.
I took it as a sign, and got back to work.

All of the above. Depending.

The TFP being down has only happened a couple of times in my experience. However, whenever it(or a similarly important web local) goes down I think for a moment that God is communicating with me. He’s finally sending me a message; I’m wasting my life he seems to say. If but for a moment I reflect on this pseudo-epiphany then the TFP is back on and all is well.

I change focus to the other websites I usually have open at the time.
Or, you know, throw things across the room.

Correct:
Not as correct:
Though when using a preposition or adverb, open is fine:
The noun spell checker can be two words, and there are several nouns that are considered "open," as opposed to hyphenated. (I study grammar when TFP is down.) ((Actually, I play video games. But whatever.))

I look at not having access to TFP, or a couple other sites of importance to me, as a breath of fresh air in my otherwise too busy and cluttered world. It's almost like getting a snow day off ...you know it's just temporary and you will be back soon. Or at least I hope it's back soon. If I really thought it was gone forever, that would be a sad loss.
To improve the mental health of its citizens, the gods of the Internet World (Al Gore?) should turn it completely off once a week or so. |
