The Bergoff is a place, not a person. It is the holder of Liquor License #1 in Chicago and brews its own beer. Until the mid-80's the bar was men-only, and it only had 1 bathroom. If/when you make it to Chicago, we can meet up there and is quite the good place for the beers. And I just want to figure out WHY you have your opinion, not change it.

Now I'm just going to ponder how Ustwo managed to change roachboy into a 14 year old female MySpace user and whether or not that means that he/she still fits the age requirement.

The way I understood it, and I may be wrong, is that the staff will get to see all of the suggestions PMed to them by the members plus get to nominate some that they feel may have been overlooked. So it's a combination of members and staff, but I know that a lot of the suggestions that I have seen so far have been excellent choices. I just hope that we get some more PM's from people because that would help us to see who the members really feel is making these positive impacts.

My dogs are usually outside because they tend to raid my kitchen, jump on my furniture, and chew on non-doggie things. It was cold and snowing this morning, so I thought I would be nice and bring them inside where it's warmer (it's my day off work so I can watch them). I put a blanket on the floor so they'd have a nice warm, cozy spot to call their own. They resisted, and I saw these thoughts running through their heads.

I had to laugh and share this because it reminded me so much of this thread.

Shadow: Look, she's holding the gate open. Does she want us to actually...go inside?
Peaches: Looks that way. Do you think we should?
Shadow: I have a bad feeling about this. What if I feel like, you know, barking. I'm not modifying my behavior for this.
Peaches: Yea, and all our bones are out here. I think she's gonna hide them once we're inside.
Shadow: And she'll probably make us lay on a blanket. Like dogs.
Peaches: Let's protest and refuse to go inside.
Me: *drags dogs into the house*
Shadow: It's a trap! She's going to slam the door shut on my tail, I just know it!
Peaches: Look, a blanket on the floor. I knew it.
Shadow: Terrible idea. This will promote the idea of cliques (man vs. beast) in this household.
Peaches: Hey look, she has a cookie.

No, I mean what about if I nominate people who might not want to have the "I am an Honor Student at TFP Jr. High" sticker posted on their avatar/bumper, and they get embarrassed, annoyed, etc?

I remember when we did the "Hotseat" threads (individually), it seemed to be common practice to send a PM asking the person ahead of time if they would mind being put on the pedestal. Maybe we could do something similar in this case.

Personally, I see no harm at all in this idea, and for a few in will be quite nice. In the long run it might actually improve the place too....so lets just do this thing, and be cool about it.

Did I miss the part where it was explained that these were going to be cash prizes, vacations and new cars? Because I don't see why anyone should be overly excited or pissed off to any degree. If getting one of these awards is the high point of your day, you need to get out more often. If missing out on one because you don't feel loved by other tfpers is the lowpoint of your day, you need to get out more often.

I'm wondering if once a month isn't too frequent, if this idea is going to go down. I'm all for trying new things, and so I say "Why not?" If it doesn't have the desired affect, it can be shut down. Like the panty-swapping club a few years back. I personally think once a month might be too frequent, but once again time will tell, and other standby phrases.

I nominate Crompsin for Best "Newish TFPer". His posts had made tfp alot more interesting as of late (or at least since mid summer 2007) and have helped some of us lesser-posters enjoy fresh responses that are pretty damn funny and always "true" to his character! And he doesn't thread jack!!! Yeah!
