I don't see the reason behind flipping out over popularity contests. If you're liked, you know it already. If not, you probably do as well. Might as well have a poll about it.
|
You want to have a poll to discover how well liked you are? I think that might be a popularity contest.
|
Thee are TFP's Oscars.
Now I'm just waiting for TFP's Razzies... :p |
That's what I said in my post. I'm for it and I don't understand people who object to popularity contests. Thought it was clear enough.
|
So... uh... as far as I figure: a popularity contest is gratuitous masturbation whereas this kind of thing highlights the history of user action on the board.
Where's the confusion? |
Leave it to the TFPers to bitch when we try to give them something cool...
|
I don't know if I think this would change the way people post, but I like the idea of recognizing people for outstanding contributions.

Yeah, the word bitch coming from World's King is kind of unsettling. He's usually so proper...
|
I think its clear enough. Complain about something that the administration is going out of there way to do for you and you don't get it. Simple enough if you ask me.
|
Ditto infinity. ^^^
|
I don't see anybody being against it, unless I'm missing something.
EDIT: Some are in fact against it. Oh well, you can always ignore them and proceed with the idea. Majority likes it. Majority wins. |

Nominations have already started. Someone in this thread has already been nominated for one of the awards. It's up to you all who else will be.

Just saying. |

Part of me wants negative, belittling awards.
"Biggest Dumbass" "Worst Typo" "Lamest Thread" ... Ya know, just to balance it out. |

so methinks someone hung out on facebook a lil much and was like "dude we need superlatives for tfp" /snarky
heh, I'd vote giant hamburger for something. But none of those titles do him justice. |

As for my opinions, well, they are just that. No need to get all freaked out about it. Why on earth would we all want to have the same opinion anyways? That's why I feel the way I do. |

Good going now roachboy is attempting to use the shift and caps lock buttons.
Meddlers you are...oh wait, was that for the mentor badge? He doesn't quite get it yet, keep working with him. |

It will seem strange at first but you will get the hang of it. Now try it only at the start of sentences, like How now brown cow. See spot run. Taxes are theft. We will get to proper names after you have mastered this lesson, but I'm proud of you! |
Perhaps if the Tilted Exhibition was included more people would post in there as well :)
|
If Roachboy learns how to use his shift key, I'm going to have to learn how to do research before I post outlandish opinions.

Hal,
This sounds like a really good idea. I'd like to suggest that there by Tilted Askew award for the funniest/weirdest/most like GH poster of the month. |
Hal Person, I feel like I've found family..
I am laughing so so so much in this thread alone. only been here a couple of months but feel accepted and comfortable.. And if we all brush our teeth every day we can choose the stickers to put on the calender...also I love this Idea.. eclectic indeed.. may we all enjoy the variety of spice at TFP. |
