For Christmas my sister in law gave me a Wii game but not the receipt. Does anyone know of any stores that will exchange the game without a receipt.

Unopened, any store that sells it will take it back but you will get the lowest price it goes for, either currently or, like Kohl's and others, from the last 30 days.

It is unopened and was purchased at circuit city. I want to exchange it for a different game. It has a sticker price on it for $50 but it turns out the person who bought it some how got it for $17. I'd like to return it and get $50 dollars credit instead of $17....

Do you live near a Fred Meyers? Freddies will do an exchange without a receipt for store credit.

Target will allow you to exchange it for an item in the electronics department for their lowest selling price in the last 30 days. It may be more than the $17 you would get a Circuit City. Also, after Christmas, Best Buy will allow you to get a gift card for it, but again for their lowest price. I would also try Walmart and K-Mart. What game is it? You may not have luck getting more than $17 for it if it was one of the ones on sale everywhere during Black Friday or one of the many other holiday sales.

Wal-Mart will take back anything they have ever carried, as long as it's in the original wrapper. You will get credit for what the item is currently selling for, usually. I've did this multiple times - even for items that weren't purchased originally at Wal-Mart. You will get store credit.

The game was driver parallel lines. It looks like most places were discounting it a lot lower than $50. My sister in law meant to spend $50 so she is taking it back and getting the game I want. I was amazed that circuit city wouldn't take it back without a receipt even though it still had the circuit city bar code on it....

Walmart's current policy is to allow 2 or 3 (I can't remember) returns without reciepts per person per year (they scan your drivers license into a database). Try there, if you still have to return it.

I hadn't had problems in the past with exchanges at Circuit City. They may have changed their policies but you'd think an unopened box wouldn't be a problem.

there is always a gryft in the system. If I were you, I would get a bunch of the $17 ones and return them all for $50, if you could do it in mass, you would never have to work again...

There are folks who do just that, so many stores are changing their policies to give the lowest price they had the item for the last 30 days.
Apparently, Staples doesn't. I just returned some unopened ink with no receipt and they gave me the shelf price.
