What about it?

Larry King is old. He's gonna make mistakes. And Jerry did kind of act like a dick.

1) Seinfeld comes off as a total ass.
2) Even if this was staged, it still makes Seinfeld look like an ass.

"What, you don't know the story of how great I am?" Not the best joke you could write.

However, great publicity here. This clip has been passed around the internet like a San Diego wildfire.

Ok ok, bad analogies belong in the other thread.

he does look like a total dick..but so did muhammad ali at his press conferences. when your number 1 you're allowed to be a total cock and get aay with it.

i have to admit, it was a pretty lame question. especially from someone the calibre of larry king.

I think that Larry King was asking a clarifying question, as do most interviewers. King may have known (whatever pissed Jerry off), but was asking the question to clarify for people who didn't know about (whatever pissed Jerry off).

I agree with Ustwo through. I don't like Seinfield.

The show was occasionally very clever, but it rarely had to do with Jerry himself being funny. As far as I can recall, I've never laughed at his standup.

Jerry was playing. Riffing. That's all. He wasn't mad--and Larry wasn't actually asking whether the show was cancelled.

Doesn't change the fact that King's a jackass and a moron.

I saw this a few days ago and thought that Larry was pitching a softball for Jerry to knock out of the park about being at the pinnacle of popularity and leaving at that point. I was really surprised that Jerry didn't get it and decided to charge the mound. Then he kept after it like a pitbull humping someone's leg (it's dangerous to interrupt). If he was playing, I don't think Larry was in on it, because I thought Larry was really taken aback by Jerry's totally dickish response- "Did someone forget to give Larry my resume..." Larry may be old and irrelevant, but don't treat him like a heckler, for cryin' out loud!

This tends to work better when it's actually funny. Thus, I'm sure you can see how many are confused.

Seinfeld can be mildly amusing but is vastly overrated in my opinion. This goes for both the show and the individual; the television show in particular was carried more by Michael Richards and Jason Alexander (and, to a lesser extent, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) than Seinfeld himself.

I enjoyed the actors on Seinfeld, but I always thought that Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld carried the show - they did a lot of the writing.

ratbastid already said this, but it bears repeating. If you watch that clip, it's clear that neither Seinfeld nor King are truly upset. They're just giving each other some shit. They're being facetious. Good natured ribbing. etc.

well shit - i loved that show, and have always thought it was sad that the chemistry of that type of show is so rarely recreated. the audacity of the situations they created, the way the jokes were completely circular within the episodes, and sometimes lingering for several episodes or seasons, was fucking fantastic. i agree with the statement that seinfeld's acting wasn't what carried it, or really any individual contribution. the way the show was written, i thought, was brilliant, but more importantly was the particular chemistry those actors had at that particular time. i thought they worked amazingly well together; it's unfortunate that the last episode was what it was, because i thought it sucked.

as for this clip, it's impossible for me to say anything with a 45 second clip taken out of an entire interview, without context, etc. my guess is that seinfeld was fucking around with larry king, but who knows? sometimes it's hard to be the primadonna one day, and 'the guy who used to have that show' the next. i also have never enjoyed seinfeld's standup. i'll take stanhope or izzard any day.

edit: switched thought train in midsentence.

That's pretty harsh. I think I get sarcasm pretty well, thank you. I don't think it is hateful to say that Jerry was being a dick. You may not have watched the whole interview, but if you had you might agree that Jerry was not "getting" what Larry was serving. There was more than one occasion where I got the distinct impression that Jerry was thinking "This is what people expect. If I do the opposite of what people expect, like say, George Costanza, it'll be funny as hell! It'll be so Seinfeld!" But every time he tried it, he came off like a dick. And Larry often had a look on his face like "You're being a dick!" I understand perfectly well that Jerry may have been trying to take the piss out of Larry, but it didn't work, and I, for one, don't feel that Larry thought it was funny. And I don't think it's "jumping on the hate train" to say so, as that is simply an impression of the interview, not of the man.

Wow, the Seinfeld hate in this thread is thick.

Personally, I like his stand-up, and most of his series.

I don't watch King, and I can't view the clip, but from what I've seen of King on other talk shows, the man is no one's chump.

I saw Bee Movie tonight. Seinfeld was the voice of Barry Bee and Larry King was the voice of Bee Larry King. At one point, Bee Larry was interviewing him, and they were engaged in banter that was somewhat similar to the OP's video (but a different topic). It has me wondering if the two are related because of the timing.

I wasn't a big Seinfeld fan, only heard it if someone else was watching it. But I liked him in the movie. Possibly because he was only an animated bee.

I just saw Bee Movie as well, and either this interview was an incredibly coincidental instance of life imitating art, or far more likely, the whole thing was a setup.

The buzz in the entertainment circle is that this was just a bit of honey for the movie and not a real sting.

Larry does drone on and on but hes a good worker, Seinfeld on the other hand seems to be more of a queen and should really just buzz off.

The show bores me, and most of his comedy that I've seen isn't much more substantial than

"I was walking down the street today, and there were three people in blue cars in a row. What's the deal with blue cars today?"

Maybe we should take a poll en see what people think. Whether Larry was just combing through Jerry's thoughts, or if Jerry was just winging it and not flying off the handle.

Frankly, they both give me hives.

I saw that interview as well, and IMO Jerry did come off as a dick at that particular moment. It's certainly possible that all the success of the show got to his head.
I think Larry David is more responsible for the show's success than Seinfeld is.
And I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is a much better and funnier show than Seinfeld.

Never found him or his show funny. Was given tickets from a client to see his act some time ago and was never so bored. If I ever hear, "What's up with that," again, I'll scream.

Carlin is witty. Robin Williams is a maniac. Eddie Murphy is raw. Seinfeld states the obvious, but so do so many others who do it so much better.
