Brown spots on toilet, please reply soon have to see doctor today
I know this is a gross question, but I'm used to it. I've noticed that wherever I go, if I use the toilet, I end up with dark reddish-brown, almost black, spots on the toilet forming after some time. I'm fairly certain it's from my urine. It affects the toilet seat that I sit on when I pee, and underneath it. You'd be amazed how much urine gets on the seat underneath it. Has anybody else had this problem? It's fairly easy to get rid of, but it always come back of course. I'm kind of worried this is a sign of another medical problem for me. It didn't start until about a year ago.

Unless you can actually see it in your urine I'd be very suprised if you have any medical problems.
Of course seeing a doctor is never a bad thing, if only to ease your mind. It could be anything from a change your water company made, a change in pH of your 'well water', or just a gradual change in your diet. I wouldn't worry.

Then I'd just see a doctor if its bothering you. But if you aren't seeing this stuff come out of you, I really doubt there is a problem.

It's ok. So far Crohn's disease, Graves' disease, syringomyelia, gallstones, scoliosis, pain, and enlarged heart, along with some minor ailments that go along with those diseases. I'm mainly considered that I may have alkaptonuria, though compared to everything else, alkaptonuria is a cakewalk. However, it would be the final piece of the puzzle, so to speak. It would explain why I have so many conditions, so that's why I'm so interested. I did see my pain management doctor today but didn't have the guts to tell him about my toilet stains... not a pleasant topic you know.

Um... this just sounds like you need to clean your toilet more frequently. It sounds like you have mildew.

I'm going to second the mildew from the ever-wise Charlatan.
Depending on the mineral content of your water it could turn every color from bright yellow to grey to black, brown, red. And ours is currently pink-orange in the guest bath we don't use often except when my SO is playing video games. If you live in a humid climate or keep the lid closed a lot of the time, it can take just a day or two to start up.

Nah, I don't think it's mildew though I certainly asked myself that before. That was the first thing I thought about, but after some careful examination and testing I know that's not it. It really looks nothing like mildew. They're dark brown/black liquid spots. It's always where I peed (not feces) and forms on the top of the toilet seat that I sit on right near the front as well. It's different from rings that form around the toilet bowl, too. I keep the toilet cover seat raised all the time. It's like this whenever I urinate.
And trust me, I clean my toilet. Once when I went back home I cleaned the toilet because of the stains I had left, and a few days later they were back just as nasty as ever. I've tried Google searching for a bunch of things and all I've been able to find that matched my description was alkaptonuria... but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I really thought it was some kind of gross bacteria. BTW, I did get some kind of cellulitis near my tailbone. I figured it was from the toilet at the time, so I always sit with toilet paper layered on the seat even when it's my own toilet. So you guys have never seriously seen anything like this before?

I figured out what it is after asking a Crohn's disease message board. It's from the Pentasa (med) that I take. Other people on the board take that and similar meds and get the same thing. Some even clean their toilet everyday. Screw that.
