Guilty Pleasures...
Yeah, it's been done before, but it was 4 years ago and not like this...
What are some of your guilty pleasures? Feel free to talk about them conversationally, and not just leaving them in list form. Specifically: Movies (kinds of movies or specific titles) TV shows Music (artist or specific songs) Habits/hobbies Other! I like romantic movies like Love Actually, The Notebook, What Dreams May Come... I really like Grey's Anatomy. Sometimes, I really want to hear some Avril Lavigne. If I'm having a bad day, I like to drown it away in ice cream, or Ruffles chips and cheap French Onion dip. If I'm having a really great day due to some personal good news or success, I like to go buy cheap movies... just go to Target or somewhere and walk out with a few $5, $7.50, or $10 titles. I love people-watching, if such a thing qualifies as guilt-inducing. lol |

Ok, this may come as a shock to some of you, but my guilty pleasure is pot, porn, and pussy, in that order. First, I like to catch a nice buzz, then watch some porn to get really horny, then fuck like a madman for an hour, maybe hour and a half. Oh, and I'm partial to facials...both watching and giving.
I also have a collection of one-hit wonders, mostly from the 80s, that I break out from time to time: The Knack - My Sharonna Men Without Hats - Safety Dance Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe Katrina & The Waves - Walking on Sunshine etc

On a bad day:
Period romance in books (Georgette Heyer for example) and I dabble in romantic fanfiction, with movies I tend towards romantic comedys. In music I'll listen to something like the Pussycat Dolls (I don't need a man to be specific) or Pink (Stupid girls, U and Ur hand). Chocolate is ofcourse a big one (only that dark stuff 70% cocoa for example where it's bitter and sweet all at once) or those tubs of icecream with the syrup mixed through.

Well, I don't feel particularly guilty about these, but okay:
* Getting off to XXX porn * Reading vapid women's magazines (mostly for the sex), but only at the airport * Eating ice cream, anywhere, anytime * Playing in the snow like a kid * Spending the whole day in bed with my husband What I ACTUALLY feel guilty about (but not guilty enough to change): * Not calling my mom often enough * Not visiting extended family regularly (including grandma) when they live 10 mins away * Not doing the dinner dishes until the next day (ktspktsp usually cooks) * Surfing the internet instead of doing what I'm supposed to be doing * Not going to the gym ... I suppose the guilty pleasure for the whole latter list would be "being selfish and/or lazy."

I love confusion...
I love seeming clear when I'm not. I love dark chocolate. I loved my wife. All is wrong with this world. Treat it gently, it's just a baby. We seem to think around the margins, but that profits noone. ...(There are no guilty pleasures unless you feel guilt)...don't do that!

Sometimes I feel guilty about not feeling guilty about some things I think maybe I should feel guilty about. Environmental pollution and personal pollution are two areas I have in mind for this.
One of the things that I get a lot of pleasure from is driving my car as fast as I can on a roadcourse ...this is just for fun track time, not professional or even amateur or for prizes. Here I am, running high octane racegas, which has plenty of lead in it (not beyond me to realize it is outlawed for street use) spewing toxins all over the place and wasting precious resources and further promoting the downfall of our envirionment/world. I also love good rich creamy ice cream and good chocolate. |

Real Estate Reality Television
I don't care for most reality television shows as they tend to focus on three premises that I disagree with: 1) Vapid Celebrities are interesting! Not. 2) Strained work relationships and environments are entertaining! Why would I want to come home after a long day at work only to sit down watch another bunch of stressed out employees wrestle over workplace politics? I don't care how cool or how high profile your product is. (Yeah, I'm looking at you Boyd Coddington!) 3)Huge Reno projects rammed through with intentionally short schedules and low budgets are exciting! I used to work in the Arts so I understand the fallout from low budgets and short schedules. Hint: It blows. Real Estate shows can fall into these conventions, but because the properties take equal billing, the tone is generally lighter. My favourite is a Canadian show called "Property Virgins" which follows the Agent/host around with a young couple as they scope out houses for their first buy. It's actually educational and fun rather than doom and gloom and the properties are usually in Toronto around my budget so I can relate. With two children and only two bedrooms and one bathroom, a larger house is in our future. We've learned a lot watching this one. I could go on but perhaps that's a thread unto itself. Am I alone here?

Hmmm... I would guess a guilty pleasure is something you might have to justify doing to anyone that doesn't 'get it'?
I don't watch tv much and don't watch movies and my music isn't odd.... OK...I love NASCAR! I yell at the drivers, I feel bad when my drivers have a rough time and cheer when the ones I can't stand have it bad. I even love the commercials the drivers make that poke fun at the sport. I like to drive fast, going through the gears to their high end and hearing the car get loud; sometimes the looks on faces as I pass by gets me to grinning-no one expects that noise and that speed from this little 4 cylinder. Chocolate. 'Nuff said. Going into a particularly odd site that most people say 'yuck' about and watching the videos-the porn ones are usually hysterical and there's some great dumbass ones as well. Did I mention chocolate? Bacon and eggs. I know I have to not have them, but diner bacon and eggs is almost as good as chocolate! And, more often than not, I'm regretting that decision within an hour, but day-um!! I love bacon and eggs!! Last edited by ngdawg; 10-31-2007 at 08:01 PM.. |

i secretly love watching "the view" and"ellen." my other guilty pleasure is the occasional spicy chicken crunch wrap supreme at taco bell. it's poison, yet, i like it. i don't consider porn or getting drunk a guilty pleasure, they are more of a way of life for me. i don't consider any music a guilty pleasure for anyone. if you like the music, then its for you to enjoy, no matter what it is.

America's Next Top Model.
Michael Jackson's teen and early twenties music. Smartfood Popcorn. The dark chocolate Nugget variety pack. Pistachio or rocky road frozen yogurt. Spider Solitaire. Stupid pop-culture novels tossed in between more classic or "serious" stuff. I love Jane Green. Period films with romance. I loved Last of the Mohicans. Cheesy love songs. Sometimes. But not the country ones. Telling people off when they deserve it. nothing else really makes me feel odd about doing/eating/saying whatever that something is.

i worship at the altar of paul mccartney and wings. maybe it was just because they were big when i was just getting up on two feet. but i love em! i mean, it's really irregular product and i think that venus and mars crap is enough to make anyone want to cram ball bearings into their own ears to make it stop, but c'mon. juniors farm? live and let die? i even like a lot of their later product, like "with a little luck" -- fucking brilliant. but the real torchbearers are uncle albert/admiral halsey, basically the entire "band on the run" album, and maybe i'm amazed. shit's as good as the beatles, and if you disagree with me... well, i won't like it, is all. but then again, i get people disagreeing with me about this a lot so i've learned to deal.
i also like the gogos.

More like a ”guilty displeasure”, really.
Back in the day, my best friend wanted me to go with him to see a ”skin flic”. I'd never seen one before and I don't think that he had either. Why he couldn't go alone I'll never know. Anyway, it was the renowned film ”Deep Throat” with Linda Lovelace and it was all the talk. It was showing at the hush-hush cinema for ages (by ”popular demand” they said) and it was probably nearly a year of my friend's badgering me before I finally agreed to see it with him. Now, I don't know how everyone else experiences these things for the first time, but I was disgusted. I don't know why I was so turned off but I recon it was because I had more sex than I could handle those days - I was a university student back then, you see – and I suppose I couldn't see any sense in watching other people grapple and sweat on the sheets, on the kitchen sink, on the floor, in the doctor's office, and just about everywhere else thinkable. What's the point in fantazing about it? Hell, I was living that life for real. OK. We can crank the clock forward several years. How many? Shit, I don't know. But eventually, I got around to seeing another one. It was also disgusting but not nearly as much as the first one. So I can say today that I've seen more than a dozen of them and these days my disgust is in myself for not finding them so distasteful anymore. A ”guilty pleasure”? Yeah, I guess so. |

I used to be a fan of Mandy Moore, before she really made it to solid B List (and when she was only selling records to Filipino catholics), used to talk to her on AIM, posted 10,000 times on her website (really), even bought two of her CD's and A Walk to Remember on DVD (which even today I want to type as AWTR)
I mean, she's a nice looking girl and all, but thats pretty embarassing in retrospect still.
