ever had this fanatasy...

Upon some local discussion with friends and family... I discovered I may not be the only one.

Have you ever had brief fantasies in which there was some disaster, a train wreck, bomb etc, and you were the one who was credited as hero who saves all these people? Then in the heat of the moment you realize you've saved some intensely hot and intelligent woman who loves you not just because you saved her, but becase you two click right away?

Or am I alone there? Sometimes I have related daydreams minus the woman aspect.

krwlz 06-18-2003 05:58 PM

Its the classic american hero man, everyone at some point has it some.

yatzr 06-18-2003 06:50 PM

a friend of mine always had fantasies about that. It was kinda freaky those because he'd talk about putting chicks in danger just so he could try to save them. I don't think he ever tried it...but i wonder if it would work......

BBtB 06-18-2003 07:15 PM

I've never had that fantasy.... yet.

In all seriousness I fantasize every day. I probably spend 5 solid hours a day on fantasy. But I am also a really artistic type person so what do I know? My point is at one point in time I have had most (generic) thoughts... Or atleast fantasized about having them.

The_Dude 06-18-2003 07:16 PM

not exactly, but close

Frowning Budah 06-18-2003 07:33 PM

I haven't had the Hero fanatasy part, but the intensely hot and intelligent woman falling for me is one of my favorites.

warrrreagl 06-18-2003 07:50 PM

There are people who have this fantasy so bad that they CREATE the disaster themselves so that they set themselves up to be the hero. Like the forest ranger who starts the fires and then gets the accolades for putting them out.

It's called Munchhausen-By-Proxy Syndrome.

MacGnG 06-18-2003 07:50 PM

sure, i'll take it lol

BBtB 06-18-2003 08:31 PM

Here is another question. Has anyone actully had a dream involving this scenario? I've never really had the hero angle but oh the times having the girl falling for me. Sigh. Still waiting on my angel

The hero fantasy yes, the saving an incredibly hot woman part yes too, but never both together, go figure.

Bill O'Rights 06-19-2003 04:55 AM

Yeah...I suppose that I've had various versions of the "Hero Fantasy", myself.

platypus 06-19-2003 05:06 AM

All the time, man. I wear my Superman costume under my clothes just in case. ;-)

lurkette 06-19-2003 05:23 AM

I have fantasies of being the tragic heroine who loses everything but must carry on, and is saved from her own melancholy by the brooding but tender ministrations of the dark hero.

Did I read too much Thomas Hardy and Bronte sisters as a teenager or what!?

Really? thats cool, i dont think that i have ever really had fantasys like that, other than the girl part, i dont know why i guess im just not into the whole hero thing, i guess ive seen to many tv shows where the hero was lying about being one and feels guilty.

joesmith 06-19-2003 08:18 AM

I think i'd think about this when i was a kid - Bit i thin kthat has to do with the fact that there were a lot of movies or somehting liek that with this theme.

viveleroi0 06-19-2003 11:33 AM

I need to add to my statement, sometimes the fantasy comes from me thinking "what would I do if this happens" moments.

WhoaitsZ 06-19-2003 11:57 AM

i have, long ago.

its just natural to most people, I think

raeanna74 06-19-2003 06:47 PM

I would think it's a pretty popular fantasy seeing as that subject in movies is so well received. I've had the same type of fantasy except I'm the Heroine. Same diff sortof. Definately not that the guy I rescue is some weekling but more like I help him and he helps me save the rest of the people or something.

I get trapped in my thoughts sometimes.. Someone will say something and I'll think about it and play out the whole scenerio in my head. I don't really have the hero type thoughts though. Most of the time I "dream" about being on the wrong side of the law. Maybe It's because I already see myself as a hero and getting all the hot chicks, so fantasizing about that would be pointless and unentertaining. Yup.. thats the reason...

actually its not. MBPS typically centers around creating a medical condition for your child where you earn credit, sympathy and attention. a superb example is the scene in The Sixth Sense where the 'i see dead people' kid gives a video tape to the father of the girl that died. on that tape it shows the mother putting liquid drano, or something like that, in the girl's soup before feeding to to her so she could get all the attention from her friends and relatives for being so devoted and taking such good care of her terminally ill daughter.

also the 'by proxy' term indicates that you are using another person for your needs. in the scenario indicated by viveleroi0, he himself earns both the hero moniker and attention of the damsel through his own actions.

Andric 06-20-2003 06:43 AM

Nope. Never had that fantasy.

absorbentishe 06-20-2003 12:15 PM

Nope, can't say I've had that one....

bondagegirl 06-20-2003 01:13 PM

This fantasy seems mainly like a guy thing, If I'm wrong tell me...
But every once in a awhile I'll have a fantasy that my boyfriend has to come and save me, or something to that effect. Nothing with natural disasters or anything, more from robbers or rapists or something.

bender 06-20-2003 01:26 PM

Nope... never even close.
