Tsk tsk tsk... Such a statement is an insult to Satanists everywhere. I'm ashamed that you would so callously mischaracterize a group of people for personal enjoyment.

It depends on the context. If they say they're praying for me to have the will to stop visiting strip clubs on Sunday mornings, I don't like it. However, If they're prayin for my health or what not, I'm fine with it. I think it's just a religious way of saying "Good luck with that."

@ cyrnel: Ah, but for them, that IS sharing with you. For people who really believe in the power of prayer, it's the most positive thing they can do. The good people I know that are into it will listen to the bad day you've had, knock around a couple of ideas, and then tell you that they'll pray for you too. That's just kind to me. That's their sort of intimate, vulnerable thing to do. (For people like Hammy and Snowy, that is.) I'd think it takes a lot of cohones to offer to pray for someone, especially when you don't know their religious beliefs OR you do know they don't believe your beliefs. Cohones to hope it will be taken in the spirit in which it is given.

MM - I LOVE that Buddhist idea. First time I've heard it, but it's *exactly* how I think of all of these things. I don't pray, but I do think of people and hope for good things for them. How can it hurt, right?

Of course it doesn't hurt a thing, but if you really concentrate, belief in your heart, focus on what you want in a positive way, doubting nothing, you could not only move a mountain, you could move the entire planet into a more eco-friendly orbit, with a little help from your friends......:)

Someone at work opined last night that the reason for floods was people praying for rain. While I've ascribed to that theory, I had to wonder anew about the nature of magic.
I "pray" for us all to come to understanding.
And I love you.

Short, sweet, never convoluted...I like that OCM. :)

Well, as I am oft' in need of as much luck and other intervention(s) as I can get, I find it to be a bit complimentary. "Pray for me."
