Blonde Moments?
Do people that are blonde take offense to the expression \"Blonde moment\"? I had a \"dyed\" blonde lady give me the snake eye this afternoon when I used that expression. If she was a natural blonde, then I could see the problem, but since clearly she wasn\'t, I felt like shooting her the snake eye back for the bad dye job.
As for my moment... My SO returned two DVD\'s back to Blockbuster this morning. One of the cases had my DVD in it while their movie was still in the DVD player. I got a phone call this morning from Blockbuster telling me thanks for returning the videos on time, but it would help if it was their videos returned and not one that I own. They weren\'t rude about it or anything, but it was certainly a DOH moment that I could have lived without. |
I don't use such colloquial expressions that tend to vituperate a large group of personages and cast them as a party to be stereotyped and ridiculed thereof because of it. It even gets offensive when some try and fail to acknowledge another's intelligence by uttering such pejoratives as "Wow, you are so smart, you must be Asian." or "You cook... you're so feminine." :|
I can hardly stomach hearing the words 'retarded' or 'insane' because of the way they are now inaccurately applied most everywhere. I doubt anyone would care to use it, but I have fondness in calling such mistakes "a lack in cognitive reasoning". :surprised: |
I'm a natural blonde and I've never taken offense to the term. What has chapped my ass is when dyed blond's blatantly "act a fool" and then play it off saying "I had a blonde moment!!" usually followed by giggling, like its some sort of "get out of being an idiot free" card.

TotalMILF, I think you nailed it! Why is it that when a nice looking blonde walks into a room(restaurant, movie theater, etc.) every guy looks? I can't see your face but your hair is beautiful.

I think that article, while citing some history, was conjecture.
Jean Harlow Mae West Carol Lombard Marilyn Monroe Jayne Mansfield Judy Holiday Practically every Playmate of the Year since 1953.... Blond, ditzy-acting(but usually pretty shrewd in real life), sexuality-oozing... Clairol's slogan that has withstood the test of time, "Blonds have more fun", coupled with their second-best known slogan, "If I have one life, let me live it as a blond". All these, plus commercials that portray blonds as uber-sexy manipulators("take it off, take it ALL off") have permeated the mindset of the consumer masses. It's really no different with red hair. It's seen as a symbol of intensity, of temper and of some fiery sexuality. In men, it's seen as intelligence and/or nerdiness. |

I'll take the former then, to illustrate a point about society's influence on the mainstream mind: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...7/redheads.jpg |

Hun, that picture is just really, really making me sad, lol. Apparently I married Cousin It! *sigh*
Love you though! :-p |
Making you sad? lol
I was completely menstrual and totally broken out, so I hid behind my golden locks. Also, the post-LASIK bloodshot eyes were not very... attractive.... to say the least. I shall be back to my normal, sexy self shortly. I hope. :p |
