The reason why I made this post is cause I work as a DSL tech but on the phones instead of out in the field and I wondered what others and how yall like the service. I have 3.0 down and 512 up. I had a local cable provider prior to going with DSL and I had issues with them. I had about 50 or so documented times/dates when the service would hiccup or go out, I continued to have issues with them.

My speakeasy result:
Download Speed: 3022 kbps (377.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 441 kbps (55.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Two weeks ago the Qwest DSL went down and I called them and talked to some guy in India. He repeated what I said and then repeated it back to me and said, "We will work on it." So then I knew never to call them again. I just hung up. The DSL started working again 2 hours later, but who knows how long it was down. If I ask for a day's credit on my bill, then they give it to me, but I forgot to ask him for it, since he didn't really speak English very well and I hung up.

Cable, I got it for an MMORPG that I loved, and never looked back. Even though the game I got if for no longer is open, I would never go back to dial-up.

Cox... it's what there is. They're pretty good though. When I was in Detroit it was Comcast... they were pretty good too...

Last Result:
Download Speed: 8157 kbps (1019.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1282 kbps (160.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

That's my result off my comcast line. I've had very good luck with them. I think it has to do with the fact that they provide basically all cable and internet service to the apartment complex that I'm in, so there's a major hub and resource allocation here. I've had only 1 or 2 significant down periods in the year I've been here and certainly not more than 5 minor outages.

The company sucks balls, but the service I get has been just fine. When I did have a major outage, they took responsibility and gave me a credit on my bill. Maybe I was just lucky?

LAN at work, none at home.

Time Warner Cable at home, I love it. Much faster than any DSL I've used and for the same price. Has went down once in the past year. My DSL used to go down once per week (no kidding).

5,000 kbps down
400 kbps up

At work we have fiber going straight to our server room pretty much (I work at a police department). Depending on the server we're downloading from, we download up to 10 megabytes per second and faster if the server allows it. Yes, ten megaBYTES per second. I actually have withdrawal when I go home from work to "lousy" 5,000 kbps cable.
