Who do you find inexplicably/strangely sexy?
I mostly mean people in media (ie: not people in your daily life, but please feel free to share if you have a real life example). I only have a few but I am always surprised when I find myself attracted to a person I normally wouldn't find physically attractive or sexy.
There is no order here to mine, I'm just listing (a bitting humor is a common theme). Dennis Leary. His "fuck you" attitude (ala (south park's) Cartman "I do what I want"!) really speaks to me. He say's what he want's and doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks. Anthony Bourdain (chef and on Travel channel). He loves to eat and drink, loves to smoke and is un-apologetic about it. The guy is really tall and thin which would normally turn me off (I'm 5' 2") but he has a kind-of "Outsider's" (80's movie) greaser/bad boy life outlook that I love. Mike Rowe (from "Dirty Jobs" on Discovery channel). It kinda cracked me up when I went in the forum's for "Dirty Jobs", there are women who are all kinds of crazy over him. He is obviously on my list but I'm not ga-ga for him. His nose is a bit large and he's a little too facially "marlboro man" for me (I tend towards "pretty boys", but Mike is a bit ripped). His humor when he's doing the jobs he does is absolutely priceless (poo factor's in all too often, in any shape or form). So, who turns you on, for whatever reason, that isin't your norm? Mod's, I think this is a safe topic for General, I'm sure you'll move if not. Ali

Ditto on the Mike Rowe. His voice, his sense of humor and his build are all primo.
'Luke' on Gilmore Girls. Mmmmmmm Michael Waltrip. He's handsome, funny and I'm a total sucker for southern accents. The actor David Keith. I saw him at the airport in Knoxville, Tn, standing no more than 10 feet away and I thought I'd die. And he was on MY plane!!! Silent Bob. No, I'm not kidding. I'm not sure these turn-ons aren't 'the norm' for me; except for, obviously, Silent Bob, voices are a major turn-on, followed by not-so-pretty rugged good looks and humor. And, except for Michael Waltrip, I like a little meat on the bones.

I third Mike Rowe, and that's relatively inexplicable considering my gender. What can I say, he's a good lookin' man!
I think this question also works much better for ladies, because most things that guys find sexy are explicably so..

Ngdawg: I have to admit that Mike's voice is a factor (after reading his bio that he's done narration for gazzilion's of documentaries, I distinctly recognized his voice in two we watched last night). Oh my, I can't stop laughing that you dig a deep voice and "Silent Bob" is on your list, that is too funny (not your liking, just the irony!).

Giada De Laurentiis from the food channel, I've posted this before but I find her very sexy and she cooks, travels, wow what a complete package! And that enthusiastic smile, I'm getting excited!

Ryan Stiles. Confidence + Smart + Sense of humor = gets me every time. See also: Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Steve Martin, and Rick Moranis.
I'll take Mike Rowe, I don't think that's inexplicible, though. I'm sure I'll think of more later.

As for the Tina Fey's of the world... Tina Fey. Especially when she was on SNL doing the news. The sexy newscaster thing. It worked for me. Also, Jenna Fisher. If you watch the Office and don't find her sexy, then I think you're crazy. Also, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. This is all just today. Tomorrow this list could be totally different.

Oh right, Sultana. I should read these things better before I post.
Oh well then, let's just say I find you sexy, but I won't explain why (even though I know). lol

Uma Thurman. I know lots of people think she's gorgeous, but I usually don't. Yet... I can't stop staring at her face and her super awkward body. When I watched Kill Bill, she reminded me of a teenager that never grew into her newly long limbs.
But still... very magnetic. Weird.

That comment about Sultana is off-topic, Daoust; she's explicably sexy.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is very ordinary looking, I think, but after watching Secretary, I think she's about the hottest thing ever. And I'm not even all that interested in D/s! You know who I'd totally do, but it makes me feel a little dirty to admit it? Anne Coulter. When she talks on TV, you can just tell she wants to be my little bitch. Oh yeah, baby, talk conservative to me! |

85% of the people I see on the streets. Seriously.
And Mabel Hoffman, but I think it's only because she can cook. Rachael Ray, the same way, but she's explicable otherwise. (Those big, pink beetles that hang on the grapevines in the spring are what first popped into my mind before I realized the question was "who?")

Barbara Billingsly from the "Leave It To Beaver" days. No, I'm not kidding. Yes, I am sick. She can starch my apron any time.
Kelly from "The Office". She's like a Indian cheerleader, combining the exotic with the familiar. If I ever get transported back in time, I want that character to go with me.

Sarah Silverman - I think she's hot as hell, but I've heard that others disagree with me.
Kari Byron from MythBusters..... Not sure if she qualifies for the "inexplicably", but she sure as hell qualifies for the "sexy" in my book.

The fact that Christian Bale has a slight sort of lisp, or at least his mouth moves a little strangely when he talks only makes him more attractive to me.

Joaquin Phoenix only in Walk the Line...I have never liked him or found him sexy but in that movie I'm transfixed.
This next one is REALLY strange....James McAvoy...in Narnia...Until that movie I was not even interested. Seen him in other things and he's ok but man in Narnia I couldn't wait to get home and google him to see what I could find.

Is Kim Gordon inexplicable? I've always had a thing for her...
I agree with Jess on Uma as well. I also can't explain my thing for Juliette Lewis, other than she looks dirty.

I'm not sure whether my crush is inexplicable, but I'm drawn to Jodie Foster like no other. She seems really smart, she acts superbly well, and there's something about her that attracts me. I think it's her intense stare and her subtle confidence.
OT: I know that Jennifer Connelly is definitely explicitly sexy. But she is similar to Jodie in that she has one of the most intense stares I've ever seen. I could look into her eyes for days. |

Dwight Yoakam. It's mostly his voice. I'm not a big fan of the "cowboy" look, but damn he looks good in his hat.
I also find Gary Sinise and Sam Neill sexy, even though they are both old enough to be my dad. Jeff Goldblum is definitely attractive in a ....lurpy sort of way.

NG, I'm sooooo with you on the Kevin Smith thing. Goodbye, horses.
I also find John Cusak incredibly sexy... most of my friends think I'm nuts, "Sexy? Cute, yes, but sexy?!" I'll second the Christian Bale and Joaquin Phoenix. I have a thing for that teeny cleft lip scar... and Bale's twisted humor is incredibly attractive. I'm inexplicably drawn to Hugh Laurie. My SO thinks it's hilarious, but that man turns me on like few others. In a weird, twisted, not-so-much-I-wanna-play-doctor-as-"Do-Me-Now-Bitch!" way.

So I'm attracted to two types of guys, inexplicably. Type number one is the type that's on the Discovery Channel, meaning Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs and Jamie and Adam from Mythbusters, of course. I can't be the only female who fantasizes about having a threesome with Adam and Jamie. Really.
The second type is the "genius asshole" type. This would categorize House and Rodney McKay from Stargate: Atlantis. I think I'm off to go fantasize.
