So, Wait -- I Didn't Get the Job?
Tue June 10, 2003 12:08 PM ET
OKLAHOMA CITY (Reuters) - A note to all job seekers: you know that your employment interview did not go well when your prospective boss calls the police in to arrest you. Anthony Kaleb Phillips, 20, was hauled away from an interview for a job with a construction company in Stillwater, Oklahoma last week after employees recognized the job applicant as the person seen on a surveillance videotape robbing the same business just one day before, police said on Monday. Phillips is expected to be arraigned this week on burglary charges for stealing a $100 tool from the construction company and about $1,000 worth of items from an employee's car parked at the office, court officials said. "When he went out there to apply for the job, there was no one there. So he just helped himself to some items and left," said Payne County Undersheriff Kenneth Willerton. "However, he was caught on videotape." A day after the robbery, Phillips applied for a job with the construction company, and was arrested. Needless to say, he didn't get the job. ------------------------------------- This guy must have wanted to be caught....or he's a complete dumb-ass. |
Now that's just plain stupid. :-P

I'll have to second the complete dumb-ass theory. The stupidity of some people continues to amaze me.
What'd been funnier, is if he was applying to get a job as a jail keeper or what not
Must have been one of us Oklahoma natives. We've got some real winners.
Well, I'm gonna go ahead and continue with the complete dumb-ass theory.
I wonder though, since he was applying for a job with a construction company, whether he was stealing tools so he could go to work. Not that it matters. Even respectable thieves have a code of honor, of sorts, that prohibits one from stealing another man's tools. Something about everyone has to be able to make a living. So, he's not even a really good thief, as far as thieves go. |
Definitely a dumb-ass.
My brother-in-law runs a plumbing business. It's a pretty small shop and he doesn't have the finances to supply each of his workers with the tools they need. Plus, if they're using their own tools it's less likely the will be left at a job site. He told me about interviewing a young plumber who was just getting started in the busines and had a huge set of tools. I told him I thought it was great, his new employee would have everything he needed. He told me he wouldn't consider hiring someone with that many tools because he had probably ripped them off from previous employers. |
There was a similar story a couple years back about someone applying for a job at a police station. They routinely checked his name, found he had a warrant, and arrested him on the spot. He literally asked if he wasn't going to get the job!

People are getting stupider as time goes on. Who's been pissing in the gene pool?
common sense seems to be going down the tubes in our society
To borrow a phrase from Fark - What an asshat.
"When I was robbin' da place, I thot "dis could be a cool place ta work"...so whaddya say, boss?
They don't call 'em dumb criminals for nothing |
What's the quote: "Genius has its limitations, but stupidity is not thusly handicapped."
Definitely applies here. |
If your that ignorant to try and pull something like that off than you deserve everything you hav coming to you.
I need a job....
hey probably thought that they would never suspect him stealing because he was trying to get the job, little does he suspect the cameras...what a dumb bastard
I am going to change it up, and go with the dumb-fuck theory.
This guy gives real criminals a bad name :D
Some people are just plain dumb
