Dying mens hair- unnatural colors.

I buzzed my head recently for a change rather than for looking any better. It's been nice but I'm already wanting to do something different. I've been considering some unnatural colored dyes but I don't want it to look cheesy. I can't even really think of what I'd like to do with such short hair though. Can you recomend any sites, pictures, or ideas that I should check out for coloring pretty short hair (buzz/ buzz + some legnth)? One thing I was thinking of would to dye it all like a bright blonde and do dark brown tips messed throughout. I dunno. In terms of how obvious I'd like it to be, I can only relate to a girls hairstyle. As obvious and out there as something along the lines of what some fetish girls do with black hair with bright blue/ red/ white dyed hair or extensions.
Peace

also- I'm thinking about doing this kind of far down the line after I grow my buzz out to about an inch+ so that I can mildly style/spike it.

the thing that sucks about having dark hair is that you gotta bleach it first in order to dye it a light color.

The most I've ever done with my hair is buzz it, then bleach it, then let it grow out so I had 'frosted' tips.. but I cant stand having hair longer than 1/2 inch long anymore. That's just me.

The_Dude 06-10-2003 03:39 PM

i've never done anything w/ my hair, it's always been jet black.

anyway, just dont mix colors on your head, it looks pretty weak (at least that's my opinion)

nefarious 06-10-2003 04:17 PM

i bleached my hair .. and dyed it dark blue .. i thought it looked great..
until it started fading out .. and turned into bright aqua green..
then i shaved it off. . i'm back at black again ^_^
lettin it grow long so i can put red (like the red in The_Dude's avatar) streaks in it ..

rogue49 06-10-2003 06:09 PM

I don't really have a choice.

Bald men with weird color just don't work.

oh well, I can always where a clown wig if I want color.:D

WhoaitsZ 06-10-2003 06:18 PM

honestly, a little spikey short black hair with blue tips looks damned cool.

miykael 06-10-2003 07:17 PM

.
i'm into solid colours.
but if you have to mix, be subtle.

I'm puzzled. Does it really matter if a dying man has an unnatural hair color?

I'll look into that, we just might have a winner.

Actually looking to do the exact oposite, as said in my original post. I'd just like to do so without looking too cheesy, as in if done by a stylist rather than by a friend ;)

i always wanted to do a bright blue... or even a deep purple.. if i could find a decent hair dye I would do it..

something that wouldnt requiring bleaching it first... I have dirty blonde hair, so as long as the colors arent too light, i should be able to get by.

bondagegirl 06-10-2003 10:28 PM

what looks cool, is if you don't lighten your hair, but put the dye on your dark hair. Put maybe a bright color like a light burgandy or purple color, or a reddish orange and it will make your hair darker but with some color tint to it... In the sun it looks real cool!
I had a friend that dyed his hair with a black dye, but it had a blue tint in it... very awesome lookin

mackyroo 06-10-2003 10:32 PM

I'm going to get dark blue tips added to my hair whenever it grows out abit, my friend got burgandy in his hair and it looks good and the guy said mine would look good with dark blue.

Did he just go over his natural color or do any bleaching before on the tips?

mackyroo 06-10-2003 11:28 PM

He went over his natural hair color, he has black hair, it didn't show up much but you could tell that it was there if you looked. And in the sun it was more noticible(sp? its late)

YourNeverThere 06-11-2003 12:11 AM

whatever you do make sure that you bleech it first, it'll work so much better

JohnS72 06-11-2003 10:06 AM

Didn't Henry Ford dye his hair green for a while? I heard stories about that- anyways- I'm keeping my hair black.

rainincarnate 06-11-2003 11:46 AM

You gotta remember that all this hair dye is absorbed through your scalp and then get filtered out through your already (im assuming from the age range poll) weakend liver - giving you a lovely multicolured liver!

Not that it matters.........

Personally blue hair sucks pretty bad unless its the whole tips thing.....

Cumhachd 06-11-2003 12:20 PM

I've got a friend who died his hair in spots (like a leopard), but with blue and orange instead of orange and black. It looked pretty cool.

Yes, he's right,

dyed blue hair has an annoying tendency to fade into green. Dull green.......... ewwww

THE MAC GOD 06-11-2003 04:11 PM

Yeah... my hair is definitely dark blonde/brown... so I had to bleach the shit outta it first BEFORE dying it BLUE... :)

Spungfoo 06-11-2003 04:51 PM

Dyed hair never looks good to me. It's too much of a contrast with the natural skin tones.

Radio Monk33 06-11-2003 06:38 PM

Yep I dyed my hair blue for awhile. It was fun. :) But yeah, it fades to that greenish color.

I'm thinking bright pink this summer. Maybe a Magenta mohawk for warped tour..

Can anyone recommend good hair dyes(in unnatural colors)?

VirFighter 06-11-2003 07:06 PM

:)

Pure craziness. Anyone who's actually done this have pics to post? I'm very curious. None of my friends have dyed their hair... guess my friends just aren't crazy enough.

Well, sorry that these are pics of girls but I couldn't find many of guys. Either way, I'm thinking of something this 'obvious' and clashing, but with my hair. Still not sure if it's even possible on sort hair like mine, but I think black with blue tips is the best I've heard so far.

And I think this is cheesy because the colors bleed into eachother instead of separating more (probably because the other's are extensions, not normal dyed hair...) I dunno what I want...help me out here  :D

If you bleach your hair or have light hair, blue not only fades into aqua green, but turns completely grey after about 6 months. A kid my brother knows has a foot of grey hair now, because he dyed it blue last year. Plan on doing something about it a few months after you dye it to keep it looking good.

My vote would be for dark blue tips on black spikes.

LittleOralAnnie 06-12-2003 02:48 PM

The best way to get darker hair blonde the fastest and safest is the use frost instead of bleach. Of course it would be a more drastic and noticeable change but you could change the blonde parts to any color you want after that.

I've been using this red brush in dye to go along with my blonde streaks. I love to experiment with hair color and styles.

bondagegirl 06-13-2003 01:01 PM

I'm wondering if all these people that are saying that the blue fades very badly, got it done at a salon? I know how bad home done blue can look after awhile but if you go to a salon they have better, more permanent dyes. that won't wash out as bad I don't think.

Hey sweets I think you should try the leopard print thing! It looks real cool and if you end up not liking it then you can always shave your head again! :icare:

viveleroi0 06-13-2003 01:05 PM

in the everyday world... I don't mind hair of any color. In the professional world though I only mind if they dress to match. If they have pink hair and a leather outfit in a business center... huh-uh. They need to dress appropriately.
