Recently I've been readings lots of rumors about an attack on US forces in Baghdad on October 10th that left over 300 dead and over 150 seriously injured. Specifically, at 'Forward Base Falcon'.

Why isn't this being reported on? 300 dead is a substantial number that one would think is newsworthy. Many people have already surmised that if this news leaked before the election it could swing the vote in a big way for all of the voters still sitting on the fence.

Did some cursory research and it looks like BS to me. While there may have been an attack at that location on that date, I doubt it was of that magnitude.

The first question that pops to mind is how they got that list of supposed dead?

I also did a bit of lite research. sf.indy and salon cite each other as sources with no outside verification.
The tbrnews site credits Novosti, which is a Russian news source. I could find no mention of this story on their site. Of course, their search function is down, but I could find nothing on their main page.

I'm with Carno in doubting this is true. Could it be true? Possibly, but a little difficult to cover up. Somebody would have leaked something by now.

300 dead, an organized attack on an entire base. That would be awful hard to cover up. There may have been an attack, usually a base like that gets a mortar or two or more lobbed in on a daily basis (rarely

Living on a base out there, when there's a loud boom, most everyone switches the TV to one of the network news channels to get whatever details they can. An entire base being attacked in an organized fashion resulting in more than 1/10th of the entire amount of deaths in the whole war would be out across the news in less than 5 minutes.

I'm sure someone lobbed some mortars into the base that day, there may have been fatalities, we might be lied to about the number of fatalities, but election or no, 300 dead is too much to not make it all over the news. Unless of course it was 300 Iraqis dead, we (Americans) only seem to care about our own, and seem to care less about any other death toll that may be out there.

Just do a google search on "Forward base falcon" and you'll get a shit ton of returns. They're all the same thing though, so I'll wait until I hear it from a reputable news source before I believe any of this trash.

Out of those photos, only the first two scare me. Those are obviously trailers (living quarters, or working quarters), you can tell by the AC units. I'm not a ballistics expert, but the destruction seems rather "clean" to me. Anyone know more about that.

The last three photos. Those are CONEX's, just large containers. If they were filled with ammunition then yeah they could light up and spread some decent explosions, but there should not have been too many personell near supply CONEXs.

Yeah that link backs up what I said before. An attack occurred, but it was nowhere near the magnitude that some other sources would have you believe.

I swear, sometimes I think that Iraqi Information Minister is still alive and distributing hilariously outrageous information.
