I don't so much "jump" but I do manage to get out of my bed on the first ring. Mainly because I put the alarm just out of reach.
|
Most of the time I get up right away.. if not... I just lay there for a few minutes discussing how I can get out of getting up or calling in sick or just basically hating the fact that I'm not a billionaire.

I'm the farthest from a morning person.
I have to put my alarm across the room and turn it to the loudest so I have to get up and hit snooze, sucks for my roommate. Although she does the same to me on opposite mornings. For high school I would sometimes turn it off in my sleep and miss 1st period. Whoops. Now my classes are in the afternoon so I don't bother to get up much before 11 except Mondays when I have an 8 AM class. My mom says I'm sleeping my life away... Is it true that you sleep 1/4 of your life? |
I bet John Lennon hated alarm clocks, too...;)
I'm Only Sleeping When I wake up early in the morning, Lift my head, I'm still yawning When I'm in the middle of a dream Stay in bed, float up stream Please don't wake me, no don't shake me Leave me where I am I'm only sleeping Everybody seems to think I'm lazy I don't mind, I think they're crazy Running everywhere at such a speed Till they find, there's no need Please don't spoil my day I'm miles away And after all I'm only sleeping Keeping an eye on the world going by my window Taking my time Lying there and staring at the ceiling Waiting for a sleepy feeling ........ |
I hate mornings. It doesn't matter what day it is I hate getting up early. Even if its to catch a flight to the Caribbean or whatever. I hate mornings. And by early I mean any time before 11 am. I usually wake up when my alarm rings and turn it off, and lay there for as long as I can without totally compromising my schedule. I also lay and think about ways of delaying appointments, skiving off work, and wishing my life was different.

I'm up when the cellphone alarm goes off. For some reason that alarm will get me out of bed. I sleep through most wimpy alarms. When I used an alarm with a snooze I would max out the snooze button.
|
Like Fresnelly, I've been conditioned to awaken between 5:50 and 6:15 every morning without an alarm. This is due to raising children, or being on call in the past (IT support - I can code JCL over-rides in my sleep)
The only clock in the room is the VCR display, and I peek at that once or twice a night to see how much more time I have to sleep. At 6 - 6:15 am, I'm usually heading out the door for my morning run. |
I use my cell phone as an alarm and jump out of bed as soon as it goes off. Then I immediately jump into the shower.
|
I put my alarm clock on the other end of the bedroom so I have to actually drag my sleepy ass out of bed to turn it off. Otherwise I just end up turning it off and going back to sleep

response to alarm clock poll
I must admit to typically hitting the snooze button as long as I can. However, that is also dependant on when I set the alarm for and why I need to get up. I also get up on the first go If there is sufficient need for me to get up exactly when I set the alarm to go off. The biggest source of snooze button activations for me: getting up for work. If I have the alarm set simply because I don't want to sleep all day I usually just turn the alarm off as soon as it goes off and go back to sleep ignoring it completely, often times never remembering that it ever went off.
