Not only the Leaders are answerable to the commision and international court. As far as I know Hezbollah claims to be a militia and even have proper uniforms (mostly) thus they are part of the GC and have to act accordingly.
The Court hast to step in as soon as Lebanon refuses to deal with the war crimes.

i dont see the problem, carno.
different constituencies operate in each space: some folk find politics to be unpleasant, some dont...there are different rules/expectations in each forum.
the difference in expectations is informal, but is nonetheless operative.
folk should feel free to discuss political questions in whichever form they feel comfortable with.

Why have any separate forums at all then?

Hell, I think I'm going to post some porn in the Parenting forum because I want the people who frequent Parenting to talk about hardcore sex. Or maybe I'll post my personal problems in Politics. I hate going into Sexuality or Living, so I'm going to post my problems everywhere else.

Agreed. Carn, you've made your peace, so let the mods make their decision. Thread-jacking won't help.

Pacifier, that's a very intereting facet of the dicsussion. Yes, Hezbollah is under the GC, and can be heald responsible for their actions. Lebanon has a very serious responsibility to deal with the problem accordingly. Lebanon has to decide if Hezbollah is worth having around, and then do something. Either they need to admit that the government is Hezbollah, or they need to take the necessary steps to seperate the Hezbollah from government, and deal with them.

Crazy

that was one of my main problems with hezbollah and the lebanese government. they sat on the fence regarding hezbollah except for when calls came to remove them, people like rafik hariri said the were important to southern lebanon. Even the current prime minister and ambassador to the U.S. say things along those lines. (when i say now, i meant several weeks ago during the armed conflict). oh and btw, regarding ur quote atthe bottom willravel, isn't the dalai lama one of the most interetsing leaders in the world. i have never seen such a charasmatic religious or spiritual leader before.

I honestly did not believe there would be further aggression in the near future. I can think of no way this attack could further Israel's interests, but clearly the border cease fire is now likely to fall apart.

BEIRUT, Aug. 19 -- Helicopter-borne Israeli commandos raided a Hezbollah stronghold in the Bekaa Valley early Saturday, setting off a fierce gun battle. Lebanon called the attack a "flagrant violation" of a fragile six-day-old cease-fire and threatened to halt troop deployments in protest.
