Need a name for a business
I need to come up with a name for a business. I want a name that I can use for my Real Estate Investing business. Something to the effect of "XYZ Real Estate Investments", or "XYZ" Realty, or "XYZ Properties"... you get the idea.
I am looking for something origional or not. If anyone wants to suggest a name, I would appreciate it. If I decide to use your suggestion, I will make a donation to this website. Thanks, Sky_driver |

I'm a Road Runner fan from way back
ACME Investments.... but i don't suppose that would give warm fuzzies... and people owuld probably look for the anvil overhead... I'd go with the town or location that you are concentrating your business in - and name it after that- if people are searching for it - in the phone book or on the internet -y ou'd get more hits because of the name recognition of the town- rather than an individuals name.

Or, to expand a little on Mal's idea of internet search hits, you could go with Big Tits Realty, or Horny Young Pussy Real Estate Investments.
Oh, tell me you wouldn't click on Horny Young Pussy Real Estate Investments.

I might click on HYP Real Estate Investments, but I don't know that I would give them any money.

Using a grandparent's surname is a good way to go. Or a pet's. Or a favorite thing like a flower or season, although many flower names are also women's. Combining names lacks imagination, ie; Marjan's or Kenbar's....And by using a grandparent's surname or a pet's name, it won't necessarily be associated to your own, which helps in not getting unsolicited phone calls at home and such.
So, like Mal's suggestion that you incorporate your town, it might be something like Kennedy Real Estate of Boston or Kennedy Boston Real Estate.

There is a firm near where I live called "4 Sale" and they have a rental section called "2 Let".
Gets them to the top of the pile in the alphabetised listings.

Whenever your name makes it onto a list, the lsit will be in alphabetical order. How far down the list do you think people will get before they find what they are looking for or give up. A name with a first letter near the begining of the alphabet is a good idea.

The driving school that I went to was named AABC Driving school.
Now, many of you might be wondering - did I find it in the phone book? Nope, it was near my house. Count me in on the "Snakes on a Real Estate Investment"

WOW...Some of you are very creative and imaginative. And some just funny as hell. There are a few that I like and might consider them. I will keep it open for a few more days in hopes of finding that "perfect name".
Thank you so much for taking the time to wanting to help out a fellow TFP'er. In any case, a donation will be made to this website whether I pick one of these names or not. Again, Thanks |

I also like the idea of using a name that makes an association with something well known and already successful, e.g. something like Buffett World Property Investments or Berkshire Property Investments. Sometimes if you want to appeal to a more local clientel, "World" can be construed as somewhat negative, being from out of town and out of touch with local issues.

SD,
You didn't give us much to go on relative to what kind of business this is. Is this just as a name for an ownership company or are you truly wanting people to find you through advertising (YP, internet)? Will you be doing more than one type of business or just owning properties? You don't say where you live but in FL we can go to the state Division of Corporations website and look up names. That way you won't be copying someone else. I always liked Palladin. It represents you as 'a knight' or mercenary. If you consult at all, consider XYZ Realty Advisors. Choose something serious, but not pretentious. 'World's Best Realty Co.' is probably not true. 'Blue Sky Advisors LLC' sounds kind of fishy. Something basic that you can build off is always a good idea too. Clover Realty, Clover Realty Management, Clover Realty Development, Clover Realty Advisors.....you get the idea. IMO, don't use initials. SDH Realty just gets lost in the ether. Also, unless you have a 'business' sounding last name I would hesitate to use it. If it is just an ownership name, choose anything that isn't already taken and put I, II, of III after it. Fred's Real Estate Investment I, etc... It's like naming streets in a new subdivision, it seems easy until you try to do it. Good Luck. Let us know what you decide.
