I need help with an idea for a thesis
so...I've been on summer break for over a month now
and I have yet to do anything with the Honors Contract I need to write up. uhg I have no idea what I'm going to do for it. Because I wasn't able to register for an honors course that would fit into my schedule, the director wants me to write up a contract and turn one of my non-honors courses into something more so I can get honors credit. I picked my computer graphics course since the syllabus consists of Quote:
which is all crap I learned to do 5 years ago...so that's why I wanted to expand upon this course. but...the Honors contract involves research and presenting my "thesis"/"conclusion" at Honors Conference Day... Rather than writing a research paper and having one of those science fair project board things as everyone seems to do, I want to create a website, and set up a laptop for people to browse. but what the hell would I do the project on to tie the project to the Computer Graphics course? would the graphics be the tie and I just pick "whatever" to research? Or should I research computer graphics....digital vs. traditional? the course doesn't involve any art history or background. just learning the tools/ techniques of computer graphics and making stuff. The computer graphics teacher hasn't been very helpful. She's just like "well, could you use all the projects as the 'research'". I need help. I'm so unmotivated/uninspired. I want to do something that I wouldn't mind spending an entire semester on, and then presenting it to my school. I want to do something interesting. and I'm having a HARD time coming up with an idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

One of the cool things in that area, is the idea of an infinite canvas. In theory, with computers, there is no limit to how far you can go in any direction, but there's sort of an instinctive need to conform, to stay within the boundries of the screen, despite the ability to scroll. If you wanted to paint a picture, in real life, you could go as far as you want, but it's not practical. On a computer, it can in theory be infinite, though viewing and navagation can be more restrictive. On the other hand, you can do things that you would never be able to do in real life, all kinds of interactivity.
