hotels
I live in Vegas. Your best bet would be to get a hotel a little off the strip. The local hotels are always cheaper, but just as nice.
If you can, check out the Santa Fe, the Texas, the Fiesta, Arizona Charlies, and the Suncoast. (These being some of the more popular ones.) Let me know if I can do anything. |

I'm running a marathon at the Grand Canyon the weekend before, so the timing isn't ideal - I'll stay on the fence for now but for the record, I'll always lean towards 'yes' when Las Vegas is involved. Too bad we sold the house in Henderson. (sigh)
Gotta stay on the Strip. Just gotta. And if we're meeting at Rio, Voodoo Lounge is the shiznit. The Pink Taco in the back of Hard Rock is a cool hang, too. For that matter, let's all just stay at the Hard Rock and meet out at the pool. That place definitely has a TFP vibe going for it... hahaha. I know a shooting range not far off the Strip that has automatic weapons. All kinds of fun for those so inclined. Don't miss "death by meat" at Yolie's at least one night. Find the secluded bar at the top of the Venetian and win a prize... every friggin' time. Don't forget to take home a skull mug from the 'Island... yarrr! Actually, the Suncoast is pretty new, and is only a 10 minute drive from the beginning of the newer strip. Another couple city blocks and you're in the heart of Vegas. Plus, being as the Suncoast is fairly new and out of the way, there isn't much traffic between it and the strip, so it's relatively painless getting there.
Just a thought. |

I condemn you all for living in the United States.
In fact i command you rollback all previous plans and budgets and use the national funds to move Vegas closer to me. Keep me informed of progress.

OK. Jin says the drive is easily doable from Houston, and it's on a weekend, so we're gonna throw our hats in the ring for a "maybe, we'll see if we're not flat f*cking broke at the time".
(I say that she says the drive is doable, and she points out that she drove from Pittsburg, KS to Winnipeg in a day. I point out that I went from Atlanta to Pittsburg, KS in a day. . . . Between the two of us, we could probably drive to Cuba.) |

As things get closer to the time...people schedules will change,
shit will happen...so some more should be able to come, others will have to bow out. A good measure will be this weekend's get-together The D.C. one ended up with about 10 or so. The impromptu NYC one had 5 So with the Chicago one you might start seeing a pattern. At the most, I'd say you'll end up with 20 or so. |

Okay, here's a thought that I can't believe no one has brought up:
October 24-26 is pretty darn close to Halloween. Acceptibly so, I believe, to have (as one of the "events"?) a costume party. Seeing as there are only so many people definitely showing up right now, I imagine it'd be small enough for someone in the area to actually host. I should have made some Sculpey devil horns for Jinya and I by then, so we'll be ready. Actually, this suggestion doesn't just apply to Vegas. Anywhere there are concentrations of TFPers, it'd be cool to have a sort of concerted party night. Let's hear what you think! |

Okay, the reality is that Jin and I might not make it. Plane tickets that work around her school schedule are expensive, and driving would take 24 hours there and 24 hours back.
Makes for a sucky trip. I still think we should have a concerted TFP Costume Night on the 25th or so, though. |
