Buk 07-23-2003 12:06 AM

I play alot of online games and my motto has always been "I'll sleep when I die!"

If there is something interesting or worthwhile to be done at 4am I will be awake, alert and there. I don't see why all the fun has to happen during the day.

Jaron 07-23-2003 09:50 AM

I don't remember the last time I didn't stay awake for sunrise, still sitting inside writing stories and playing games.

Do I count, yet? :P

(Incidentally, I've been in and out of the hallucinogenic phase of sleep deprivation for the last few years, and have lately been having episodes of paranoid delusion. Not a good sign... maybe I should try sleeping.)

juanvaldes 07-25-2003 01:27 AM

well, just had lunch. that'll be 2:30am....

Insomniac(uk) 07-25-2003 08:50 AM

Sleep eh not for me

I'm not overly happy about being an insomniac i soend all the weekend out drinking and the like then i try to sleep on a sunday night and ............. nothing i sleep about 3+, then on moday the same thing, this happend till about thursday when i'll get decent nights sleep, then come friday i'm out on the piss again ruining my sleep cycle. Looks like my natural predestined slep time is 4a.m. till 10 a.m. (or more)

Buk 07-25-2003 03:29 PM

"I'll sleep when I'm dead" is my life's philosohpy.

Took me a year to train the woman that it was okay that I still hadnt gone to bed when she woke up in the morning.

varus 07-25-2003 11:00 PM

I'm in.

Not sure I'm an insomniac, I just get into something and Bamm! it's 4am.

Doesn't hurt that I work from home...

Buzz 07-28-2003 09:56 PM

Hey you Alllll Just home from work and time for dinner and a FEWWWWWWWWWWWW BEERSSSSSSSSSS... One or two. and maybe a shower so.. Great to be up toooooooo.......

Buzz 07-28-2003 09:57 PM

Funny don't look like anyone else is Upppppppppppppp???

Semi-Normal 07-28-2003 10:53 PM

Not sure if I qualify - I sleep plenty, but at unusual times. My job typically starts between 5 and 8pm, and finishes between midnight and 5am. I've been working similar shifts for over a year and a half now, so my sleeping pattern is well and truly fucked. I usually spend at least an hour or two on my computer when I get home from work, as I seldom feel tired enough to sleep straight away, sometimes not getting to bed until 7 or 8am, and sleeping until around 3 or 4pm.

sub zero 07-28-2003 10:54 PM

umm... i'm up

TSFM 07-30-2003 05:38 PM

Jesus Malverde 07-31-2003 12:30 AM

Cool I thought I was the only ridiculous person waking up at 5 in the afternoon after going to sleep at 6 in the morning. Hmmm I guess I'm not that bad of an insomniac, but it feels good to be a part of a club haha. The only thing I don't like about being an insomniac is that my eyes are starting to bother me....

The.Lunatic 07-31-2003 01:27 AM

I'll be adding insomniac club to my sig i'm already night crew at other fourms :D why not this one what fucking time is it anyway the worst part is i can sleep at any time i want i could go back to sleep an hour after getting up or at like 12 or something i just fucking stay up for some fuct reason.

Batman976 10-23-2003 01:43 AM

Did anything ever come of this club? I'm usually up until 4:00 or so as an average (it's almost 5:00am now). I sure do get really bored. Did I miss out on all the fun? Is this club non-existent these days?

ziadel 10-23-2003 01:45 AM

well, I'm still here with all the crickets

nukeu666 10-23-2003 03:16 PM

hmm..
i suffer from chronic insomnia...
one of my nicks on irc is insomniac_awake which i use at nights

in college...i gotta study all day and the only time i get for me is nights...
tonight...i read 5 volumes of love hina...downloaded more manga for the weekend ahead.
sleeping time=as soon as the sun rises
waking time=when the sun sets
of course...i have to sleep in class also

Mr. Spacemonkey 10-23-2003 04:40 PM

Well, as much as i do think sleep is a waste of my time and as much as i would like to join this club, i can't. I'm a student and must get a healthy amount of rest to make my brain function properly. Otherwise, i would totally join.

ktthequeen 10-23-2003 10:32 PM

repeat ad infinitum......

thisGuyIsCool 01-28-2004 12:39 AM

I'm an insomniac. It's not that I don't want to sleep, it's that I can't. Sometimes I go to sleep after not sleeping for a day or two and I just can't fall asleep, I just lay there looking at the ceilling. occasionally I'll get up and get a drink, work out to try to tire myself, or get on the internet. it really sucks. when I know I need sleep (test, work, etc.) I usually drug myself with some painkillers I have leftover from a car accident a while ago. but sometimes, when I'm at a friend's house I will fall asleep in a chair or something, when I'm actually wanting to stay awake. so then when I get home (after almost falling asleep at the wheel) I got to bed and just lay there, not being able to fall asleep again.

it really makes me fear for my health because I keep thinking of the day when I haven't slept in a while and i fall sleep driving my car and drift off the road or into on-coming traffic. I wish I could get help but I haven't told anyone other than peers or gone to the doctor because I just don't think they'll believe me.

sorry for the rant but you said this was a place to vent :)

Fearless_Hyena 01-28-2004 12:58 AM

SixEdxMia 04-01-2004 12:50 PM

xxjuicesxx 09-14-2004 12:12 AM

ffffffffffffffffffffhhhh vbbbbbbbbb

fallenangel 09-14-2004 12:16 AM

well it's only 1:16 am, however i'm going stircrazy bored. This is just a drop in the bucket as far as time wasted at wee hours in the morning, but i figured since this thread just popped up into recent viewing, i'd throw in my 'what's up' in here as well :)

cait987 09-29-2004 12:48 AM

I'll join the club, I've got the oddest insomnia, I never stress about anything because I think its a waste, but for some reason when I get to bed my mind just starts running on its own and even if something doesn't bother me personally/is reassuring, once I'm asleep I just can't stay asleep because of these stupid things (falling asleep is trivial but staying asleep is like impossible for me)

I'm tempted to see a doctor because its becoming more common, 2 months ago I would get it once every week ish, now I'm getting it 5 days a week (ironic its also the 5 week days :P)

also I feel like shit today and 2 hours of sleep definatley isn't gonna help my sickness (sore throat, drowsy, minor nausea, and a really damn sore nose due to a pencil issue) :P

I guess since were all awake though I'll tell us a story about the pencil, Word of advice: Never hold a pencil with a idiot friend nearby.

Passing a note to a friend (a bit childish but I was bored), another friend comes up and hits my hand with my pencil to grab the note in the other hand, my hand flys up and I stab myself in the nose with a mechanical pencil, holy shit did that hurt and my nose bled for a while lol now its all dried up and stuffy which is even worse, and I can't seem to blow it without it hurting.

Well, I'm off to take a bath and try and relax a bit to see if I can salvage the 4 hours before I have to get up (even if I doubt I'm gonna go to school since I already feel like shit, just gonna say I puked in the middle of the night probaly, I can be super sick and manage the day fine, but being tired is something I can't handle since I dedicate times to go to bed and always have, Iget pissed if I'm not in bed for those times. I've never had to adapt to a drowsy lifestyle because I've never had a real stress issue till I became more active among friends etc (even if I don't personally stress my mind just sorta runs on its own.)

I'm really to tired to spellcheck this post so I'll just hope you other insomniacs are awake enough to comprehend what I read.

Although, if you asked me I'de rather not be in the insomniac club

Rather be in the bright and early club since thats my style (who wants to go to sleep at 5 am and get up at 3 pm, I'de rather go to sleep 9 pm and get up 6 am, much more enjoyable personally.

Irishsean 09-29-2004 01:52 AM

I work nights and sleep 4 hours a dau, does that count?

nukeu666 09-29-2004 08:15 PM

i have to withdraw from the insomniacs coz ive seen going to sleep like a good boy every night and waking up at 5am

stevie667 09-30-2004 02:42 AM

Well, it's currently 11.38 and i've just unstuck my face from the keyboard, and judging by what remains of the clock the rest of me collapsed on next to my monitor, i got to sleep about 6ish.

Thats pretty good actually this week, but i'll still join the club.

Now, to go get some caffine, food, and pretend i did actually get some worthwhile shuteye.

Edit: fixed the clock with some super-glue, looks good as fucked.

yabobo 09-30-2004 02:50 AM

I'm in it's 6:47 a.m. and another night goes by
I won't be fit for work today but it should be a slow one...I hope

Don't know if it's the matress, pain, getting old, pain, or just abuse of body
from age and pills& beer. Pain is always and forever with or without drugs....

Time for the morning joe to kick in!
See ya all tonight

CityOfAngels 09-30-2004 03:04 AM

Just got back home from work; graveyard shift. 9-5, but they stopped digging at 3:45 so I'm here at home at 4:03 AM. Yay.

thefictionweliv 10-09-2004 01:22 PM

AIM: FuryFromWithin
I'm up usually 11-6am central everyday. Daylight is for the weak!

KirStang 10-10-2004 10:44 PM

Well, i was about to start an 'imsoniac club' myself in the members section, but luckily i did a search :)

I was thinking...maybe we could post our thoughts/whatnot here?

I'll start:

I'm generally not in bed until 3 now, and i hate it, i know that i'm going to regret this in the morning, but oh well. As of lately, late at night, when i go to sleep, i'll start to feel really lonely. Does anyone else ever feel like that?

I was really worked up too, about an 'ex' so i went for a little jog around 2 a.m. Lol, some cop started to tail me, then when i stopped and faced his car, he was just like, "keep going." He then pulled over, and i just jogged off. Good thing they didn't question me, but i guess it's cool that they're looking out for my neighborhood.

Ehh, i guess i'm just too discontent to sleep.

AIM: Panthero86

Anyone else want to post their late night contemplations here...?

skier 10-10-2004 11:36 PM

way to search man, way to search.

I'm not really an insomniac though lately i've been having trouble falling asleep. I will be up until at least 3 AM mountain time though and on #tfp so come talk.

Coronaboy72 10-11-2004 08:39 PM

Used to work midnights for a few years and worked early mornings at another job. I find myself staying up until 3 most of the time but have had a few times where I crash around 6 or 7am and sleep until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. It's a good thing I work evenings, I'd be screwed hehe.

radioguy 10-11-2004 09:57 PM

it's 1:01 am, gotta get up at 6 am, i can't sleep. i took a nap today for the first time in a while. maybe that's why i can't sleep. i don't like this. i gotta deal with kids in the morning, maybe i'll show a movie so i don't have to work as hard. this sucks.

Asuka{eve} 10-11-2004 11:03 PM

Im wasting away at college and its 12:00 at night. Maybe ill sleep at 4:00 am if im lucky.

TexanAvenger 12-01-2004 02:54 PM

My only real question is why I didn't find this earlier... Put another notch in the post 'cause I'm in.

themisfit 12-01-2004 11:02 PM

I have always had trouble sleeping...especially at night. I need little sleep and am so picky about doing it.

So...I'm in.

yellowchef 12-02-2004 01:39 AM

skier 12-02-2004 01:52 AM

K-Wise 12-02-2004 01:57 AM

It's comin on 4 A.M. Coulda sworn I replied to this already. Where do I sign up? Oh...wait...nevermind.

Asta!!

Jonsgirl 12-03-2004 12:55 PM

I'm working night shift. Lonely, dead, sleepless, graveyard shift. Count me in!

Oh, and can I sign my S.O. up? I know he need somewhere to go at 4 am when he's still up and playing at the computer.

Painted 12-04-2004 12:51 AM

I'm up and at it. 1 AM.. probably another 4 hours in me.

I need a smoke.

Halx 12-04-2004 03:42 AM

my sleep cycle has been fucked by two straight days of staying up till 5:30am on purpose. Now it's 3:40am and I dont feel a bit tired. Shit.

Nhanced1 12-04-2004 06:44 AM

Parties are fun, Staying up late is fun, Realizing that you don't have time to sleep and make it to work the next day... not fun.

Reguardless, I'd like to join the insomiac club because I've been one ever since I got my new condo. I swear its been a non-stop party around here. If its not a LAN Party, its a traditional one. Its testing my cleaning patience. I can only pour so many unfinished beverages down the drain before I'll snap.

Sometimes I think that I am afraid to sleep because I'll miss something... but then I remember that I hate sleeping anyway and if I could do away with it completely, I would.

I know I'm coming back to this thread...

Bryndian_Dhai 12-15-2004 01:18 AM

Well, let's see.... it's currently 3:15am cst. I've exhausted my list of things to do (well, the stuff I can do quietly anyway), I'm surfing TFP desperately for things to read and post on.... And it looks like the zillionth day/night in a row that I've done exactly the same thing....

Yep, looks like I'm a chronic insomniac. Sign me up! *grins*

I'm BryndianDhai on AIM if anyone's interested.

ICER 12-15-2004 01:34 AM

Guess I qualify, here it is a little after 3:30 (CST) and I'm surfing the web. scanning chat rooms, Channel surfing the TV. looking for something to entertain my brain.

and haveing no luck at all.

sallycinnamon78 09-04-2005 03:10 AM

Hi all, I'm new here so be nice to me! :) I've been an insomniac for years now, literally, so felt I had to join in. So far I've gone 45 hours with no sleep whatsoever, so am off to try and have a nap now.

I work 6:00pm to 6:00am Mon.- Thur.

Its Sunday morning 7:30am and I'm eating supper. Is that fucked or what! Five year night owl still going strong. Can I join?

amonkie 09-04-2005 03:17 AM

Here's another graveyard worker .... I hear the owls on my nights off :) 4:20am here...

skier 11-19-2005 03:02 AM

4AM and i'm still up. Why do I let myself get into these messes...

Sleep would be so awesome right now

yellowchef 11-22-2005 02:56 AM

Because...

I need to go to bed!! School starts again soon and I cant be doing this shit.

Ananas 11-22-2005 07:22 PM

Not so much an insomniac as a night owl. I love being up at night, just wish there were more decent eateries open at 2-3 a.m.

noodle 12-12-2005 09:53 PM

I'm a card carrying insomniac.

i'm used to multiple nights in a row of 3-4 hours of sleep... but after two Tylenol Cold Nighttimes and a bunch of nose spray, you'd think i'd get some way to crash out and sleep off this respiratory bug. I have to get up in four hours. Ugh.

troit 12-13-2005 11:47 PM

I am right now....actually since I have moved to NYC I have been sleeping much better but tonight, not so good. Oh well...

zz0011 12-14-2005 02:15 AM

Sleep?

I work 2 jobs, and in one I wear 4 hats. The 2nd job is part time pay with full time hours. I have a wife, 4 kids and a dog. I try to have a life. And shower regularly. ;)

What's this strange thing you're calling sleep?

Oh wait, I think I used to remember something like that...

Now a days, I just let myself pass out from sheer exhaustion. Utter exhaustion is too extreme for me. SHEER exhaustion: much neater.

Sleep?

Plan9 09-18-2007 07:08 PM

According to some... I live here 24/7.

spectre 09-18-2007 07:53 PM

After more than a decade of insomnia and no help from a few different sleep medications, I'm finally getting a decent amount of sleep thanks to another medication. It's so nice not to be nodding off during the daytime. :)

If anyone is having chronic problems with insomnia, I highly recommend seeing a specialist in sleep disorders.

Midnight 09-18-2007 10:56 PM

paah! Sleep is for the weak!

MHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

How do you all expect me to uphold my reputation as a complete lunatic if I sleep? If I sleep... I'll get all.... ugh... NORMAL!!!.

NONONONONONONONONONONO!

I won't do it I tell you! I wont!

I agree I much prefer to pass out from exhaustion than just go gently into sleep. It's like fighting death, you know you'll lose but the battle keeps you around a lot longer.

DaveOrion 09-19-2007 01:43 AM

My sleep cycle has also been screwed up recently, and often I cant sleep at all. I'll have to join also......nothing profound or funny to say, thats it.

QuasiMondo 09-23-2007 08:31 PM

Nothing to watch on TV, and nothing to surf, because I'm lacking imagination, so here I am, sitting at the laptop hitting F5 over and over and over...

Jetée 09-27-2007 10:13 AM

Alright... I'll join, only because I make the conscious decision to stay awake during the night/early morning hours. I feel more at ease in this state, even if I am left with little to do or no one to converse with. I am much more productive without the hustle and bustle of daywalkers, and I much rather see them when they are tired in the late afternoon. :D

In truth, I can fall asleep at any time I desire, and I sleep soundly for a duration of at least nine hours if left undisturbed. If not, have no worries, since I can still function normally and with little fatigue if I get as little as four-five hours of sleep.

Munku 09-30-2007 11:57 PM

I think the absolute worst, is when it's 2 am, you realize your normal sleep schedule starts at 6 am, and you have 4 hours, alone, with absolutely nothing to do. So what do you do? You sit on your computer and check the same 3 websites over and over again, expecting there to somehow be something new to see, but alas, it's no different than when you checked 8 minutes ago. Damnit.
