Plummie, same here. First summer I haven't taken classes.

Anyway, I'm about to start creating the database for our site . . .

HiThereDear 06-08-2003 11:10 PM

No summer classes here either. I'm up all day and night.
I've layed in bed for four hours trying to get to sleep.

As for suggestions for the organization: since we're up anyways, we should do something - the organization should have some goal

YourNeverThere 06-09-2003 06:07 PM

i havent slept in year, or at least days i cant remeber

sadistikdreams 06-09-2003 06:19 PM

Hey, Antagony... I know some Flash, so I might be able to create, like, an intro or something.... IM me for details.

THE MAC GOD 06-09-2003 07:14 PM

sandman23 06-09-2003 10:49 PM

*i think i'd like to be considered for membership in your prestigious organization*

Pyrate 06-10-2003 02:55 AM

I'm an insomhiac by genetic inheritance. Both me and my pops tend to retire at al 6/7 am on most nights. I just find the night more relaxing, more understanding(?) to the plight of peace lovers, and it isn't full of the chatter of thoughts and shit as the day is.

I can do more (college) work and to a better standard at night, lyrics come more naturally, I meditate at night, I practice seeing auras at night, I try to develop my psychic abilities at night. It's almost impossible at day, too much mental and physical disturbance.

I'm a natural born vampire!

I'm a chronic insomniac. I've had it as long as I can remember. Even when I was 7 or 8 I remember not being able to sleep. I would get up, and tip-toe through the hall with a pillow. Then I would duck low behind the couch, and lay down in view of the TV that my parents were watching.

I did that countless times, but was only caught on a few occassions. I tried to tell them that I couldn't sleep and I got bored, but my parents didn't really listen.

Man, I thought I was the only one who did this? If it weren't for that day job, I'd still stay up 'til 4 or 5 everyday. Funny thing about having kids, they tend to make you stay up late, and it's not for something you want? I've always been a "night owl" as my parents so kindly called it. I'm ususally in bed by 2 am now, but sleep at 3, and getting up at 7. What a life, count me in.

For all of those(us) on the insomniac list, we should all post each other's screen names on the various IM systems, and maybe have our own chat times on one or more of the systems? At least you'll know someone who's on late? Whacha think????

phredgreen 06-10-2003 11:08 AM

Alright guys . . . more progress on a site for us.

Stay tuned.

Antagony 06-14-2003 12:19 AM

Two more nights of insomnia . . .

Tossing, turning, general agitation.

I may get us a running site while I'm at work tomorrow.

spectre 06-14-2003 12:23 AM

3 AM, still awake. Can't sleep, clown'll eat me.

Phaenx 06-14-2003 12:26 AM

Do you have wounds that never heal? To them are you just a happy meal?

Often, yes

Would you like a way to vent your frustrations about your inability to sleep?
Kinda, yeah

Do you have a late-night job with computer and no one to talk to?
Naw, but I wouldn't mind

Need a companion to share conversation with until you go back to your mundane daily grind?
Hell yes, man

Do you have a strange body clock that hinders your ability to interact with others?
I go to bed late, wake up early. Its going to kill me, but I am awake most of the time.

The Insomniac Club is the place for you. We will group together and attempt to entertain each other in those twilight hours.

We'll start here. For now, let's just post in this thread, and maybe add something to your sig. But I'd like to take it a bit further. We can make efforts to be on IRC at certain times. Perhaps have an insomniac buddy list via AIM or ICQ or something so we can find other night-dwellers to chat with.

Post ideas here.

If I get enough response, perhaps I'll build us a little website.

Piggybacked this idea from another message board. That insomniac organization died out. We'll have a better one anyway.
I'm handy with HTML, so PM me or something if you need help with that or whatever. I know you have your own site and all, but, ya know, in case you wanna PM or something.

Akaw 06-15-2003 09:41 PM

Insomnia sucks.

I too have had it since I was a child. Since then it's taken me about an hour since I lie down to get to sleep. And recently it's gotten worse. :P
Took me six hours till I finally got to sleep.

I think my problem is that when I close my eyes, I start thinking too much. Contemplating about event from the day, or something like that. But then after a while it's more "why aren't I asleep yet."
My insomnia makes my insomnia worse.

Anyone who can fall asleep when their head hits the pillow should try and live a month like this. ;P

eyeronic 06-15-2003 10:27 PM

I've realized that I'm no technically an insomniac. If I don't have a TV or computer and I excercise all day and don't eat after 8 I can get to bed by midnight. The problem is that I would rather kill myself.

Sleep?

Whats that?

eloc 06-16-2003 10:19 PM

Oh, Helllll yes. Boy do I ever suffer from insomnia. Sleep is a damn dirty waste of time anyway. If I could get away with it, I'd never do it again. Get's a little weird after about day three though.

I'll gladly join the club...but only if I get one of those snazzy club sigs.

onesnowyowl:
Hmmmm, coincidently I am currently located in Corvallis too. Feel free to come hang out with me. In fact, just moved down here, could really use a friend or two hundred in the area.

myMHz 06-17-2003 12:16 AM

Sleep is for the weak! I've been doing night work or early morning work for as long as I can remember. So I'm up for it.
(Get it? Up for it?)

eyeronic 06-18-2003 12:06 AM

Oh god I wish I could get out of this club, but it's like the Mafia. 04:06--have to work tomorrow. Oh man.

Pyrate 06-18-2003 01:33 AM

When on your deathbed you'll look back and wish

"If only I hadn't wasted so much fucking time sleeping. I wouldn't have lived longer, but I coulda lived MORE..."

Antagony 06-18-2003 08:28 AM

You are more than welcome to create a sig announcing your membership in our organization. Pretty soon I'll have our site up and you could have it link to that or something.

eyeronic:
Well put.

rat 06-18-2003 10:57 AM

Count me in. Telamon719 on AIM, and I idle in the irc chan every chance I get if i'm not actively talking. Central time (houston) but I'm usually under the influence of alcohol most nights now (read my journal for details. Double D: thanks for the comment and new entry up!:)) so I may be kinda luny when you talk to me late nights.

awanderingsoul 06-19-2003 01:16 AM

Yeah, I'm here now....

Minx 06-21-2003 02:46 PM

Hello again!
I can't really say I suffer from insomnia but rather wierd sleeping patterns.
I'm always up between 5 - 5:30 am and by the time work is done, kids are asleep it's about 11 pm before I can crash. I fall asleep great but I always wake up in the middle of the night and am awake for a few hours. Too much on the brain all the time or something.
So...don't know if I'm a candidate but I've already changed my sig heh heh :D

Oh and Ashton...you really should think about hitting the TFP get-together in Vegas this Oct...it's going to be fun!

rat 06-21-2003 11:10 PM

2.15am, been up since 6am, and still my mind keeps me awake.

can't sleep....barney will molest me...

Fade 06-22-2003 12:19 AM

Im in, IM me at WatashiSeason...(aim)

Minx 06-22-2003 12:33 AM

As usual...wide awake at 2:00. There's apparently something mystical and magical about that hour...or so my body/brain thinks. I haven't quite figured it out myself.

HiThereDear 06-22-2003 12:38 AM

1:37am, let the insomnia commence.

sierra2774 06-22-2003 06:34 AM

With my new job, I work until 1am, so when I get home, I just can't go to sleep right away...So I may have to join this club!

Fade 06-22-2003 09:46 AM

Ill have to agree that the night tends to be more relaxing, especially since most of my summer is spent at the computer. Also,ADULT SWIM KICKS ASS! :cough: anyway... where was I... oh yeah, its always nice and cool at night, and with no one up theres few distractions...

pickledaddy 06-22-2003 09:41 PM

I've had insomnia for a long time. I can only take short naps during the day and I stay on the computer all night. Sleeping pills either make me space out or just don't work.

Oh, and I think this should be a support group because insomnia is not fun.

mathias3 06-22-2003 10:21 PM

I feel everybody's pain...I adapted to about 3 hours of sleep a night while in college and have never returned to "normal" body-clock time. I don't mind the insomnia, but I also don't mind sharing the time with other people who are on the same ride. It gets lonely when the rest of the world goes to bed.....

Spectre - I dig the quote you posted and think of it often when the sun disappears....CAN'T SLEEP....CLOWN'LL EAT ME!!!!

sleep.. is for the weak. it is a waste of time, and it can be generally done without. which is what I do. I'm an insomniac by nature, and probably a few other things too. I have the habits, good or bad, of spending loads of cash on books, and staying up all night reading them - leaving me usually broke and somewhat ... dulled to reality - of which, I've lost track in the past 3 years...
