Tattoo artist stops robbery

I just think this is really cool.....this is the guy that just did mine and Dave's new tats. He's a really nice guy who apprenticed under my regular artist.

In one Norcross tattoo parlor, one can find the usual needles and ink, along with a couple of heroes.

They sprang into action when they heard screams coming from the beauty parlor next door, and it was all caught on tape.

Adam Goodman says he has been called many things, but “hero” is not among them.

“I’m just a tattoo artist,” Goodman said. “I don’t know what I would have done.”

Goodman was working when he saw the commotion in front of in the Flesh tattoo parlor. He ran out and saw a man with a knife, and says his instincts took over.

“I grabbed him by the neck,” Goodman said.

Goodman and his client helped wrestle 31-year-old Jonni Perez to the ground until police arrived. Police say Perez had just robbed Goodman’s neighbors at the La Unica Hair Salon.

The manager says the man came in and pulled out a big knife near closing time.

“He said give me your money,” Goodman said.

One frightened woman fled the store and says the man threatened to kill them. But after cleaning out the register, he fled, or at least tried to. Thanks to Goodman, he didn’t get very far.

Goodman says he is surprised by the attention, and the praise from police.

“I’m making up for mistakes from when I was younger, I guess,” Goodman said.

Perez faces three felony counts for robbery and aggravated assault. Police have also charged him with three counts of misdemeanor cruelty to children. Investigators say the manager’s children witnessed the robbery and were traumatized by the incident.
Im not a guy so I dont know that I'd have jumped in to help....would you?

Actually...it's probably not the smartest thing to do...but then again, I've never been accused of being the smartest guy. ;)

That's the kind of neighbor I want. Sounds like a good guy to know.

A year ago, I woulda said FUCK YEA I woulda jumped in. (It's the macho thing, you know).

Now I say, FUCK YEA I woulda jumped in (after I knew his back was turned and I could take him down without a knife to the face).

Guess it's part of growing up..

I think I would have got involved but possibly, being the coward I am sometimes, I would have chosen to beat him with a bat.

However I would also have gone to jail afterwards.

Brave man... Well Done!

I would like to say yes I would have helped, but its really kind of an on the spot thing.

The right thing to do is help, the safe thing to do is let the cops handle it. I'll follow my moral compass.

I would like to think I would help, but it's a lot easier to say that having never been in that kind of situation before. Having said that, I think the desire to help would outweigh the desire to be safe (much to the dismay of the women in my life, I imagine).

I think you've got it right.

waiting for the cops to handle it isnt a good idea if you want it handled at all. people like that shouldnt be allowed to run around free and if people dont step up and help stop them noone will. cops will show up when you call them sure long after the guy is gone. then they wont do a damn thing to figure out who it was. at least if they are like the cops are like around here. i would have done the same thing if i thought i could handle the guy. at the very least i would of found something to beat him with.

I'm the kind of guy to jump in and help others without really considering whether it's the safest thing to do, so yeah, I probably would have.

I'd keep myself safe, but i'd stop the guy.

Besides... insurance pays for theft- insurance cannot compensate for the loss of human life.
