Elphaba's coming to London

Just thought you all would like to know - the musical "Wicked" is set to open in the West End this year.

I think I'll have to go - the book was fantastic, and the Broadway reviews were very good.

And here I thought Elphaba was going to actually be in London... I'm sure "wicked" is good too.

Yup, I saw it here in San Francisco. Quality for sure...for a musical.

My first exposure to it was during the Tony Awards broadcast a few years back. I found a .torrent of the soundtrack and dug it so much I bought the CD. My whole family has been singing it start to finish for a couple of months now. I went and read the book, too, but frankly prefer the musical (obviously, comparing the two media is problematic).

We've got tickets for when it comes to Mesa in August. Can't wait!

If you read the book, read the sequel - it's awesome..

I prefer Elphaba the TFP member, then the book, then the musical. Then the Wizard of Oz.

Will, you are a sweetheart.

Mal is right, the sequel is worth a read. I have my hopes on another sequel to "Wicked." Green is good.

Interesting to hear you praise the sequel, I had only read negative reviews. But you've piqued my interest.

I never really liked musicals. But then I kept hearing all these great things about Wicked. Finally I decided to give it a shot. When we checked, Wicked here is sold out for like the next 3 months.

Hope you are able to see it.

And, yeah, like Charlatan, I thought this was about our elphaba actually going to London.

The main character, Liir, it not at all likeable. Given his less than motherly upbringing by Elphaba, one would want to have some sympathy for him, but I certainly had none. His only hope for redemption would necessarily be in a third book. My 2 cents.

Some weekend when I'm there we'll have to try for last minute tickets, whatever those are called. When you go to the theatre and for $20 get whatever is still open or didn't show up. Cause yeah, it's impossible to get actual tickets.

TKTS is the booth in NYC where you can get day of tickets for shows... usually for 1/2 price... the only drawback to it - rarely will you get seats together... but since it's rude to talk during a show - that's OK
