NO MEN ALLOWED!

But I'm a boy...

Can I then, on this argument, take a peek inside???

No?

Oh.

I was just wondering, it's the only forum I haven't been in, and it looks awfully tempting, but nah, I gotta respect privacy, rules etc...

But has anyone here failed to resist temptation and wandered into the Ladis' Lounge???

Ok, so noone will probably own up (if anyone) but I can't help thinking some guy has snuck a peek inside.

Come forth and repent!

:D

JadziaDax 06-04-2003 02:44 AM

the NO MEN ALLOWED only mean that you cannot post in those threads. More like a "look all you want, but don't touch" situation.

Think of it as a Ladies Tea Social, and you're sitting outside the door. You can hear the conversations going on, but you're not allowed to interrupt.

The ladies of the TFP are very grateful for the space they have in that forum. And I'm proud of them.

SecretMethod70 06-04-2003 02:49 AM

Think of it this way. How could we possibly enforce men from not even opening the page? It's logistically impossible even if we wanted to do it. Only way would be to study every single user and make a decision on whether they were female or not and set their permissions accordingly.

Keeping men from posting on the other hand is a different story - if someone doesn't seem to be female when they post in there (and, trust me, it's pretty obvious so don't try to fool us) then we only have to do research into that one person to determine their sex. That's a heck of a lot easier than multiple thousand members. So, like Jadz said, look, just don't touch.

Pyrate 06-04-2003 03:17 AM

It's not necessarily about enforcing them, maybe trusting them. Ok, so that's a bit naive, but you could ask and if peeps here have respect they'll be good.

Anyway, enough of me...I'm off to tha LADIES LOUNGE!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!

:q

Pyrate 06-04-2003 03:18 AM

Ahem. Excuse my lame excue at a smilie.

I couldn't remember how it goes...

Bill O'Rights 06-04-2003 04:31 AM

I dunno...I stay outa there. Although I'm sure that there's a lot of hot steamy sex stuff goin' on in there, I'm just as sure that at forty years old...ain't nothin' I ain't heard before. And besides, I mean come on, most of it, I imagine, is a lot of "hen talk" (sorry ladies), that I have no desire to be involved in anyway. So, give 'em their space...they need, deserve and seem to appreciate it.

On a side note, though...it seems to me that this is a recuring issue of sorts. Don't know why. Could it be kind of a "Now you stay out of that cookie jar." kind of thing? People seem to want what they are told thay cannot have? Just a thought. Then again, I could be fulla goo, too.

All we ask is that you don't eat any cookies - you can know what's in there all you want ;)

Heh heh...now that's funny...and i don't even really know why.

troit 06-04-2003 05:03 AM

I'll fess up... I was a member of TFP when men were allowed to post in the Ladies Lounge. So after a couple of days of not paying attention to that particuliar forum I pop in and type in a reply and
BAMMM!!!!!!
all hell broke loose. I got PM's and messages pulling me out of there by my hair (in reality it was a friendly "Troit the rules have changed").

I do agree with the forum though. TFP's women need a place where they can have a conversation amoungst themselves without the interference of their male counterpart's opinions.

4thTimeLucky 06-04-2003 05:37 AM

I thought that we all had to say what our sex was when we signed up (I forgot whatever I told Hal, I would have told him anything to get back after the crash :p).

I didn't realise that you guys did detective work. How fun.

Peetster 06-04-2003 06:10 AM

I respect the ladies. I respect their space. I know I'm allowed, but I usually don't even peek. That's just me.

The_Dude 06-04-2003 06:46 AM

u can look thru 'em

zf0enix 06-04-2003 07:22 AM

I'll confess. I've looked in the LL, but not tempted to post. Being a "fly on the wall" can offer some tremendous insight to the mysteries of the workings of women. Of course, it doesn't answer everything.

As a qualifier, the few threads I've looked at were general in nature (at least I thought they were!). I don't want to invade too much!

eyeronic 06-04-2003 07:28 AM

Never really browsed in there, but I'd imagine it would be as enlightening as Cosmo was when I was 13. Which, by the way, I recommend to all 13 year old boys who want to learn about women...

BentNotTwisted 06-04-2003 07:31 AM

So, what about a men's lounge? Where guys can do the locker room politically incorrect thing. Or do we already pretty much have that with the Sports and Cars forums?

Actually we tend to do that with every other forum from GD on down to the TB.

Oh, you think so? Heh.

BBtB 06-04-2003 09:37 AM

I looked in there one time. Back in 3.0 days. The first one I clicked on seemed inocent enough. I forget the exact name of the thread but it was nothing big. On about the third post down the thread started going towards female problems. I have yet to feel the need to go back since.

nash 06-04-2003 09:44 AM

On one forum I participated in, there was a ladies' lounge that was locked to anyone who didn't have permission. You had to submit something to a moderator (I forgot what kind of "proof" you needed) and they would give you the permissions. If the ladies really wanted privacy maybe the administrator can set something up like this.

mystmarimatt 06-04-2003 12:07 PM

i looked in once, just to see what they could possibly be talking about, but it wasn't quite the scandalous find i thought it would be. now i just leave them be

*Sigh* I liked it better then.

But who really cares what I have to say.

<b>I</b> care, for one. I've read some of your posts. Most seem quite insightful. I could say the same for most in this community. We seem to have a pretty good cross-section of society in here. Almost like a...well...like a community. </my2cents>

HockeyGuy 06-04-2003 05:06 PM

I have peeked in there, but never posted. Gotta follow the rules. From what i've heard of people that post....

Frowning Budah 06-04-2003 07:40 PM

I would never go into to the ladies forum. I am afraid to find out what they are plotting over there.

actually tfp members are 95% one kind of people and then there are 5% made up of a different type that just don't express their opinions because it would offend the majority
