Welcome to the 458th biggest board on the Internet!

I just found this site that aggregates data about the size of internet forums. Naturally, I had to hunt down "my" site on there!

Turns out good ol' TFP is number 458 out of the 1642 that they know about. They've got some neat graphs of post count and member count over time, too.

See http://www.big-boards.com/highlight/729/

458 is pretty good, but I'll bet we can do better. C'mon, folks! Put your back into it!

maximusveritas 01-19-2006 08:44 AM

I think this proves that bigger is not always better.

skier 01-19-2006 09:17 AM

I like how nexopia is 6th.

Alberta Represents!

Gabbyness 01-19-2006 09:33 AM

My lord, Face the Jury!

We need to up the ante.

Daoust 01-19-2006 09:39 AM

Neat. I have been looking for other message boards, but was afraid to ask. I like it here, I do, and I've clearly invested significant amounts of time and effort here, but it is nice to find other places too.

I like that the TFP is smaller. I was just perusing offtopic.com and they had 1008 people viewing one thread. That's too big for me. Too busy. I like the closeness and the comfort of this thread. I like that you get to be known and you're not just a number.

So in short, while now I have access to other message boards that I did not know I had prior to this thread, I'm staying put here at the TFP...

...that is, unless you'd rather I left.

Zeraph 01-19-2006 09:45 AM

I consider places like TFP a different type of forum than those much larger ones (better too or I wouldn't be here) with the big ones it's just not the same. No one cares about each other, and rarely is there much good info to post ratio. It's mostly just mindless chatter that doesn't serve much purpose. Kind of like anarchy or high school :D

"No description has been provided for Titled forum project. If you would like to submit a description for these message boards, click here ."

I was gonna copy the charter or something into there since it's blank, I'll leave that to a moderator.

That is 458 by posts, by members the ranking goes up a few notches. Sorted by posts last week, the tfp gives up quite a bit of ground though. Interesting though to see what types of boards are out there and how they "rank".

Brewmaniac 01-19-2006 07:18 PM

Lot of forums on Big boards but none are TFP!

Even though I snipped it.... Ditto. For the whole forum. :icare:

Not only have we made some great internet friends, but we've even turned some of them into real life friends.

This is an awesome place. It doesn't matter where it ranks on a tracker site. It's always going to rank 1st with me.

pan6467 01-20-2006 03:16 AM

This is a great place and my homepage. I have been to other forums and MBs and none are as accepting of opinions and views and as respectful of others as I find here.

I've said it before we have truly the best people on the internet here. Hal created something truly great and unique here.

I think a great deal of the credit goes to some of the moderators here. There are things that go on on many boards that don't happen here due to their efforts. Not only that but most of them also contribute to the discussions rather than simply edit and close posts.

yep. the strict moderation on this forum is what keeps me coming back. if you're an ass, you're gone.

Lucifer 01-20-2006 06:23 AM

I'm not sure I could survive without the TFP, it's like coffee or something

But... I'm still here!

(puts up invisbility cloak and splashes blood over the doorway so mods don't enter or see me, bulb of garlic at the ready)

Pure fromage... but I don't disagree with the sentiment.

barenakedladies 01-20-2006 06:47 AM

hey... its better than 459th

I could not have said it better myself.

Toaster126 01-20-2006 07:04 AM

Yeah, it's hard to make fun of all the sappy when we know it's truth. I'm spending almost an hour a day on this board and I don't know what I was doing with that time before I found TFP, but I'm sure it wasn't as fun or stimulating.

Awww... eye lub ewe guys! :icare:

barenakedladies 01-20-2006 07:08 AM

and check it out... we beat the german martial arts community.

ngdawg 01-20-2006 07:08 AM

considering they have 1580 forums on that list, being in the top third is pretty awesome. some others I frequent I haven't even seen listed and one shocked me that it made the listing at all.

Don't get me wrong, Hal created this, but the people, mods, and posters have made this IMHO the best forum on the internet.

The mods do contribute and very rarely do I even look at them as such. (Except when in trouble for something I did in Politics.... ).

I get the sense many came here just to look at the TB and stayed to become truly great posters.

So we owe our thanks to Hal for creating this community, but it wouldn't be a great community without the truly awesome people.

barenakedladies 01-20-2006 08:01 AM

member to post ratio is 33.

what does that mean...

1/3 of the members do all the post?

Destrox 01-20-2006 09:18 AM

Yes, its true. I love this forum.

458 sounds like a good number, dont want to be to high on that list.

BigBen 01-20-2006 09:35 AM

458. Dare to be average.

This place is better than coffee, it is like. . .

Its like waking up on your day off and realizing that you don't have anywhere to be, and all of your chores are done. The sun is shining into the window and directly on your body, but not yours eyes so you don't have to squint. You smell the coffee downstairs with its automatic timer, but you are too warm and comfortable to get up yet.

You turn over to find your true love sleeping like an angel next to you, and they have the smallest smile on their lips, so you know they are having a good dream. Your pet is by your side, and feeling you awake makes them come over and do the morning routine, whether it is a quick tummy rub or a lick on the cheek.

You turn on the television, and find that movie that you love is playing, and it is about 3 minutes before the part you like the best. Enough time to pour that cup of coffe that smells so good, and to let the pet outside and go to the bathroom yourself.

You go back to bed and your true love is just waking up. They offer a morning love-making session; you hop in the shower after, and find the perfect temperature for the water on the first turn of the knob. Stepping out and feeling fresh, you get into your favorite lounge pants and sweater.

That's what the TFP is like. To me, anyway.

Gaiaonline is pure rubbish, it's nothing but a spam contest, and it is ranked #1, so I second maximus.

SuicideBlonde 01-27-2006 07:30 AM

Its only day 2 for me on this board and so far, I'm finding the members respectful and intelligent. A huge bonus when it comes to message boards :).

I think you'll find we try very, very hard at the TFP to maintain a quality of community unrivaled elsewhere.

TFP is my second home :)

Temporary_User 01-27-2006 01:24 PM

I like it how when i come to this board there isnt too many posts to weave through untill I find one that I like.
it seems this board has around 500 posts a day. I wouldnt like 1000 or so. I dont have that kind of time. :)

QuasiMojo 01-29-2006 06:59 AM

Nice to see us out there represented in the Big World.

"Titled" though?
titilating perhaps....

Ace_O_Spades 01-31-2006 06:20 PM

I post on one other forum that is ranked pretty high, but nothing even comes close to comparing to the fabulous community and immediate acceptance new members get at Tilted Forums

it's my internet home

I third that statment. I usually have my TFP before my coffee. Okay, so my coffee maker sucks and I have to hit one of the three 'Bucks on my way into work, but still... :D

serlindsipity 02-01-2006 10:45 AM
