Paul Fusco, RFK Funeral Train Photographs, 1968
I came across a few of these photos a couple of weeks ago and was instantly fascinated. Not only because I had never seen or even heard of them before and they are quite interesting, but because they made me feel a little sad. It seems that people from all walks of life made their way to the train tracks in their part of the country to wave goodbye to Robert Kennedy. I can't help but wonder if he would have gotten the same tribute today.
Anyway, I made a point of collecting as many of these images as I could. When I can, I would like to purchase the book:

Love the pictures, especially the one at Harlem 125th street. I spent many hours waiting there..

Reflective of a time when, despite the civil unrest in the America, and the mounting cynicism surrounding the Vietnam war that never went away, there was still room for hope and optimism that politicians would improve things. Somehow, I don't think anyone feels that way anymore.
