Eco-cost-effectiveness pyramid!
http://www.treehugger.com/cost-effec...ss-pyramid.jpg
I saw this today on the TreeHugger blog and thought it was a very simple and clever way to look at how to consider the steps to living a more Earth-friendly life. The bottom of the pyramid is the very cheap and easy things one can do to reduce their energy consumption and damage to the environment. As one moves up the pyramid, the options become more and more expensive and difficult. If you're trying to budget in ecologically responsible things in your life, this can be a handy tool. What do you think? |
Does the broader base mean that the things on the bottom have more effectiveness?
|
I don't think so, Baraka. I think it's meant to illustrate a starting point.
You can see the original source of the Pyramid here: One Home I threw this up on my Facebook for my brother to see. Slowly but surely my SO and I are working our way up the pyramid, and coaching others we know (like my parents) on how they can join us. |
Looks good, but it would be more useful if it displayed some sort of indication of effectiveness. I know that new windows aren't all that effective at saving energy when compared to air sealing and insulation.
Anyone interested in learning more about tangible ways to make your home more energy efficient should google mnenergychallenge. |
