What really happens when you use freecreditreport.com?

Glad to see that there is no such thing as a free lunch. |
Well, there is no free lunch, but there are free credit reports. You just dont get them through freecreditreport.com
Everyone can get 1 free credit report from each of the 3 rating agencies every 12 months. I get mine through my bank's website. Just thought it would be good for people to know this. Most of these "free credit reports" websites just get that 1 free for you, then charge you a fee every once in a while as part of a service described only in fine print where they "monitor your credit." Cool video, by the way. |
I have tried them before, and they give you a 14day trial period and then say they will charge you for their service. I never went thru with it once I saw that..
nice song though. |
Greedy fuckin fuckers!

I dunno, perhaps it's because I come from the banking industry - any company that is willing to spend millions advertising a "free" service really means "Free*"
*With strings attached.... |
One of my favorite sites on the web is The Consumerist. Every few months over there, someone complains about getting taken by Free Credit Report, which isn't free. And the good folks at The Consumerist post a link to this:
Consumer 101: Get Your Free Credit Report From "Annual Credit Report.com" Where you can actually get your credit report for free without involving your bank. |
I've gotten free reports from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp before. They have a pay service but it's pretty clearly marked when you are getting something you have to pay for. You can get a basic report at no cost.

Yea I tried them. Then I had to call them to cancel and they did the whole high pressure sales talk thing.
Idk. Wouldn't do it again. |
you can get a free credit report everytime you are turned down, so I seem to be able to get them all the time...........
