This site popped up on Reddit today and it's really brilliant. Much the same as one can get news and other information from social news sites like Reddit or Digg, one can find new (and not mainstream) music on Cherry Peel. I believe it's the first social music site.

Submit or explore music uploaded by the bands and musicians themselves while being able to democratically vote for songs you enjoy. One can both discover new music or expose people to your own work. It even links to iTunes so you can purchase the music if you like it.

I'm trying to figure out some of the friend stuff though, kinda a little not user friendly. Is there a way to link a song to a friend on the site directly?

I added you. As soon as I got on I clicked on the #1 slotted song, and it was really good. La Resistance, by the Greycoats, I believe.

I don't think you can link directly, but you can navigate people to the artist's page. If I wanted you to hear La Resistance , I'd say "click here and click on #2. There could be a more direct way, I'm still farting around with it.

Looks interesting. I'll have to play with it.

the FAQ says that they are adding a direct way to link songs so its coming. And yeah that La Resistance is a good song. The first song I listened to was Beware of False Prophets by Summer Birds in the Cellar and I was hooked haha.
