A very good audio program on 1968 - 53 min. mp3
Listen to it, maybe some of you young farts will understand us old farts better. I was 16 then. The drug scene at that time was unknown to me. But it did have a dramatic effect on culture, especially music. And that DID effect me. The divierstiy of music that was popular in 1968 was exceptional and this program portrays much of that. |

ahhh, the good old days ...I was a freshman in college in '68 and feeling heady from the newfound freedom and powahhh we seemed to have. I also had friends at Khe Sanh and other places in 'nam. Great, powerful music...it was sort of a revolution.

I was born in '72, and I've always taken quite the interest in this era.
Honestly though, this is more of a stroll down memory lane for those of us "in the know" than a real primer for the "kids". Any young 'uns want to prove me wrong?

I didn't mean as a challenge, exactly. More like, can you listen to this as a post 1980 baby and derive ANY sense of the vast change in society that occurred round about then?
It's worth the listen just for the tunes. I liked the interview with Mountain Girl, myself. Kinda blew me away to actually hear the voice of someone whom I guess I internalized as fictional. Even though I know it was true, his book, it just seemed, "far-out, man" for me to believe it, if that makes any sense. I've always had an affinity for Neal Cassady (sp?) from that era, as well. Anyone seen The last time I committed suicide? Fucking great flick!!! Soundtrack alone makes it worthwhile.
