You know, I've always heard this RUMOR that Texas has some sort of statute for designated Crimes of Passion that's referred to as The 8-Second Rule.

For example: you walk in on your old lady bangin' the mailman, and anything you do within a reasonable amount of time/the heat of the moment/roughly eight seconds is pardonable as temporary insanity by a reasonable man standard.

So, like, if you pick up a .357 and unload on the guy and/or your wife, you get a free pass. As soon as you pop the cylinder and reload, THEN it's murder.

Or if you pick up a ball bat and crush his skull two or three times, that's all good. 93 times is probably getting you sent to prison.

Has anyone ever heard of this, or is it completely bunk?

Wow echo5delta, that would be one crazy ass rule.

And if I were in the husbands position and just happened to be carrying my gun, I probably would of shot the man (and possibly the wife.... kidding) no matter what.

i´m aware of the possible existence of a similar law in germany where if someone insults you and you react within 1/2 a second like punching them in the head it´s considered a spontaneous, involuntary reaction and doesn´t warrant repercussion.
