From Google: New! Gmail Custom Time; Allows us to cheat?
I use Gmail and today I noticed in my email window Google's announcement of this new feature.
The announcement in my email window is in bold red text: New! Gmail Custom Time The above link goes to Google's announcement page. Google has come up with a way for their Gmail users to monkey with the date stamp of their email messages. An example they give is like say you missed your Grandmother's birthday by a couple of days. You can send your Grammy an email wishing her a happy birthday and pre-date it back to her actual birth date! Now get this: There is an option you can choose that will have the email arrive in her inbox as "read". You can fool your poor Grammy into thinking that she read your "ontime" greeting but she forgot she read it! Now your Grammy will think she is suffering from dementia. Here is a testimonial of one guy's cheating right from the Google announcement page linked above: Quote:
Does anyone else besides me think this is way out of line? Read the announcement page carefully. Is anyone else picking up the disdain for honesty that Google seems to have developed? What arrogance has Google's multi-billion dollar valuation bought them? Are they getting me all fired up over a joke? I can't actually find the new feature in my Gmail as the page indicates I should. Any Gmail users out there might want to check it out. But no Cheating! |

Arrrgh!
They got me. I always fall for April Fool's jokes. My faith is now restored and they have a sense of humor too. Thanks, tisonlyi, for putting me out of my misery. Jokes on me! Now everyone else can pile on. |

"How does it work?
Gmail utilizes an e-flux capacitor to resolve issues of causality (see Grandfather Paradox). " Excellent. |

ThinkGeek :: Stuff for Smart Masses always has some good April 1 items available. |
Here's an updated list of all the shenanigans going on across the web. It even has past jokes.
April Fool's Day On The Web I think uk.youtube.com is the big winner, at least in my book. |

I always love Google's April Fools jokes.
|
Too bad US.ARMY.MIL doesn't have jokes.
OH, WAIT... THEY DO. Hahaha, bodycount... hahaha... man, that's a good one. |
I don't know. Personally, I think Google peaked with Pigeonrank. None of their jokes have captured the sublime genius of that one.
