Chocolate Covered Bacon

Chocolate Covered Bacon Recipe

Quote:
On a sunny day some friends and I had ordered some bacon cheese burgers for lunch. After a couple of bites someone commented on how bacon was able to make an already delicious hamburger even more delicious. This started a conversation on the power of bacon in-which it was able to make everything it came in contact with taste better. Whether it’s a filet wrapped in bacon, bacon on salads, pizza, or sandwiches it’s always that much better with bacon. We wondered if it was possible that any other foods had this special property. Someone quickly identified chocolate as a food with similar complimentary properties.
Chocolate covered pretzels, strawberries, nuts, just about everything tasted better covered in chocolate. If both bacon and chocolate can make other foods taste better, what would happen if someone was just crazy enough to combine chocolate and bacon? A quick search on the internet yielded little information, which raised some serious concerns on the safety of combining two such powerfully substances. Several questions came to mind; maybe bacon and chocolate aren’t supposed to be combined? Maybe combining them could start the apocalypse? With complete careless recklessness for ourselves and the rest of the planet we decided it had to be done.

I’ve carefully documented the procedure for making Chocolate Covered Bacon (CCB) to serve as record incase I was killed during the combining process.

Disclaimer:
If you are planning on following the outlined procedure listed below please proceed with EXTREME CAUTION. This documented procedure was performed in a controlled environment with all the necessary safety procedures.

Please note: That no animals were hurt in this process (none that I specifically hurt, but I suspect the company that harvested the bacon might have).

My father has insisted for years that any recipe is improved by the addition of bacon, or toffee.

I constantly threaten him with with bacon/toffee surprise...

deep fried bacon

This is rather intriguing, I love chocolate, and really like bacon, but cannot even imagine the taste of the two together.
As if bacon isn't already fattening enough, I saw somewhere in the south a restaurant that serves "deep fried bacon strips", they are served with a dish of country gravy....hmmmm

Ah, we didn't do it. We were too busy deep frying snickers bars and oreos. I love the South.

We'll probably tackle this culinary conundrum before too long, though. I'll keep you posted.

I went out to dinner last night with friends to celebrate the New Year and have to tell you that the six of us each ordered a 1/2 inch thick slab of bacon as an app. I have got to say that it was the best app. I've ever ordered!!!!

I bet this tastes good. Who doesn't love sweet and salty together?
I totally dig peanut butter and bacon sandwiches.

I had some of that fried bacon in chocolate fondue this New Years Eve. My Lady just told me a few minutes ago that the reason we were having it is because she had read this thread (she also pointed this thread out to me for the first time - goes to show I better spread my browsing around here at TFP, eh?).
It was very, very tasty. People ranging in age from their 50's to a 6 year old ate the treat, and universally found it a most scrumptious and memorable treat to eat on New Years Eve.
So, you get a positive vote from this corner. I just wouldn't try it very often because it is rather rich, and deserving of a more rarified status than, say, candied peanuts or a hot fudge sundae.

Hmm, well I have heard of peanut butter burgers before. I never had the guts to try it myself but I have heard they can be very good. No appeal for me, I don't care for either peanut butter or hamburgers myself to begin with. I think I will pass on the chocolate covered bacon.
