MySpace bulletin - smart ass reply
I had a great conversation on here over the past day in another forum. It reminded me how great the discussions are here on TFP, so I thought I'd share this. It's mildly long, and I honestly didn't put to much thought into each response. I was basically just writing my smart ass thoughts as quickly as they came. I'm sure I said some dumb stuff somewhere in here, but I'm interested to hear what the crowd thinks.
Quote:
Long story short; I saw a bulletin today, and started having all these smart ass thoughts. I thought I'd throw in my thoughts and repost for all your viewing anger. My thoughts follow the hyphens. I'm sorry but I didn't want to correct the formatting on the copy/paste. Deal with it.
'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine
And came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must
Be true, given the source, right?
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of
Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed, and 69
Percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President.
In essence, 2/3's of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change.
So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started
Thinking, ''What are we so unhappy about?''
Is it that we have electricity and running water
24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
- No, what an asinine question, but that also shouldn't make people any more happy than being without.
Is our unhappiness the result of having air
Conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?
- This only makes people more happy as a result of conditioning so again, same logic flaw.
Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy
Folks have a job?
- Nope, but possible that these jobs are less and less capable of providing acceptable wages for lower/middle class families and nearly completely unable to provide for a single parent.
Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery
Store at any time, and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in
The last year?
- I guess the closest to this would be that fact that rules are in place requiring that all foods brought to public schools are prepackaged, that hardly anybody makes anything from scratch, and that the reason for this is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more prepackaged food, full of shit that is horrible for human beings to ingest, and many times responsible the falling human health in the United States, than anybody has ever seen in Darfur.
Maybe it is the ability to drive from the
Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present
Identification papers as we move through each state?
- Are you fucking joking, maybe it is the fact that we have to present several different forms of identification to accomplish anything in any state, all the while getting anally plundered by the various states' local taxes.
Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe
Motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
- Yeah, it is a terrible shame when a human has to fend for themselves, utilizing the body as it was designed. It would be a travesty if we didn't have some body to make our beds at night and a nice breakfast in the morning.
I guess having thousands of restaurants with
Varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough.
- No, because if this makes you happy than, in my opinion, you are confused about what happiness ought to consist of.
Or could it be that when we wreck our car,
Emergency workers show up and
Provide services to help all, and even send a
Helicopter to take you to the hospital.
- Or just maybe that the tow truck costs an arm and a leg, a cost which is generally offset by the crooks at your insurance company, which just happens to be one of the largest scams our government forces us to participate in. Then to top it all off, you get taken on a great EXTREMELY over-priced helicopter ride, which helps to fill the pockets of all the government's favorite crooks.
Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of
Americans who own a home. You may be upset with k nowing that in the
Unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear
In moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus
Saving you, your family and your belongings.
- This one is actually pretty legit, except the part where this is the dumbest part of this whole letter. This really happens? No. Nobody, as far as I'm aware, has ever had there house start on fire, called the fire department, and then have the next day be a rosy bit of happiness. I'd say that even in the cases where the home is partially saved and no lives were lost, there is still always a great deal of loss. Maybe these folks are still unhappy with the shitty building standards for residential housing in the United States, or with the fact that they are getting screwed around every corner by just owning the house in the first place. New tax increases every year. Creditors being allowed and promoted to totally collapse this market by distorting the reality of realty values.
Or if, while at home watching one of your many
Flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes , an officer equipped
With a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your
Family against attack or loss.
- Hmm, again I'd say no. Conversely, it might be that a lot of these blue suited helpers, are actually crooked, power hungry, power tripping assholes that are often nothing more than a huge, bureaucratic pain in everybody's ass.
This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free
Of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoodsw here 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
- Oh ok we're talking about another country this time, give me a heads up next time. I can tell this isn't America because here we're proud to say that we have some of the highest number of rape cases in the world, gangs, government officials, and lawyers raping and pillaging the residents, and the highest number of violent crimes with a deadly weapon in the industrialized world.
How about the complete religious, social and
Political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?
- Fuck this! Bullshit! 'Nuff said.
Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks
Unhappy.
- Nope, this is why the other 33% are tricked into thinking that the government is there fucking daddy, and they should settle for all the problems that we have, in an effort to protect those mostly weak amenities we do have.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful,
Spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the
U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we
Are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain
About what we don't have , and what we hate about the country instead of
Thanking the good Lord we live here.
- ... because that's what every religiously free American should be doing instead of concentrating on aligning the government in a way that serves as many people as possible as completely as possible.
I know, I know. What about the President who
Took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The President who has a
Measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same President who
Guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The President that cut
Taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy
Who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all
The spoiled un grateful brats safe from terrorist attacks?
- Nope never heard of him.
The Commander-In Chief of an all-volunteer army
That is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the
President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much,
Make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see
All the good things and be glad?
- Yeah, the same news that tricked you into thinking the previous two paragraphs were in any way logical.
Think about it...are you upset at the President
Because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the
'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind
Every day.
- Jesus Christ, you are aware there are news stations not owned by Rupert Murdoch... but it seems you've never seen one.
Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and
Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died
for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They
didn't have to go.
- Nope, they mostly died for loads of bullshit reason, the least of which is freedom. Unfortunate that any died none-the-less. Regarding the draft; yes it did have to go. Freedom is something we strive for in this country.
They are able to refuse to go and end up with
either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge
or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days
in the brig.
- Oh, can you feel the freedom now?
So why then the flat-out discontentment in the
minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on
the media. If it bleeds, it leads; and they specialize in bad news.
Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will
watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and
media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells , and
when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one
way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J.
Simpson to write a book about 'how he didn't kill his wife, but if he
did he would have done it this way'...Insane!
- Other than the O.J. part, I could not see more clearly eye-to-eye with you on this point. The media lacks all honesty, it would seem, these days, and needs to be changed immediately, if not sooner.
Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday
by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times
for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we
have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.
- Wow, could this sound any more fascist? Perhaps if people's ears were tuned in to hear the implications here it could. You are suggesting that one side essentially burn the other side of media. Sounds a bit 3rd reich-ish to me. "Burn the negative media, burn it now."
We are among the most blessed people on Earth,
and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and
appreciative.
- To say least there is to suggest that it would somehow be better to thank God several times a day than to be thankful and appreciative. I know I'm nit-picky, but I'm sensitive to religious issues against my will not to be.
'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of
control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the
country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and
terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of
the Pledge of Allegiance?'
- Why did you have to go there after mentioning freedom of religion? If you'd have said it before it might not have came across as hypocritical. Yes, I'm sure. Anytime God is in The Pledge of Allegiance is a good time to take God out of The Pledge of Allegiance.
Adam Sherwood for President 2016.
