For anyone in Phoenix, there's going to be a fund raiser/memorial drive starting at noon in Lot 59 on 12/16 for the family of the Supra driver, Alex Ahmed.

Are high speed pursuits really worth the danger they present to the public? Especially when the criminals can be pursued as easily from the air, as in this case. I'm not blaming the police, they are doing what is normal procedure. But I do question is that is the proper procedure?

I'm more interested in why can't they just ram the car off the road? If they can't catch up to the Altima, what are they going to do when chasing a faster car?

Even when not pursued this happens, I have had many a close call on the wild
mega- interstates.

In this instance, the fact that he was killed instantly is of some comfort.

Live coverage of these chases have been less, lately, correct?,

No more mass looky-loo?

nasty crash
looks like the altima was commiting suicide. no obvious mechanical problems with the car as it went across 3 lanes and tagged the supra.

as far as the risk to other drivers it really depends on the crime.....i live in NJ and they are really strict as to what u can chase for....

but the police do need that option.....other wise everyone would just take off....

that's what I was thinking...it looked very controlled and deliberate to me. Very sad for the driver in the white car...
