the duke ellington thread
 
since i cant seem to make up my mind what to do, i decided to start a duke ellington thread. add more: this is only a tiny sampler.

1929: duke and orchestra at the cotton club (sound with a photo to stare at)


cotton club stomp, misty morning, going to town, freeze and melt

creole love call (with adelaide hall)

yikes.

1929: same train


1930: old man blues (from an amos and andy movie)


1934: with mae west


1935: blues (with billie holliday)


1941: flamingo

this song is 2 and a half minutes in the finest of tiki bars.
so great.

40s: mood indigo


this stuff is like opium.


speaking of billie, this is pretty amazing

Nice! I had seen all those except for Creole Love Song, great videos.

Yeah Bobby, it's a shame how this music gets ignored, I guess it's all old news now, but it all translates to current jazz artists getting ignored. Oh well, here I am knowing i won't make any money with my music anyway ;)

Art Tatum is a Grand Master at the piano......none better!!!

He can take a 12 note melody and play it with 256 notes in less time !
