Virginia Tech victims myspace pages
|
Sad doesn't even begin to describe it.
I randomly picked out Lauren McCain's myspace. Several people (family members?) imploring her to contact them because they were worried about her. I wonder when they began to suspect that she was never going to. |
ha. reminds me of this page. http://www.mydeathspace.com/ theres a weird vibe watching dead peoples comment space.
|
I clicked on one and stopped, way too depressing, can't really take it. I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Another reason I'm glad not to have a MySpace profile. I don't know exactly how to say why, but I just am. |
This is very depressing. I can't even imagine how those people feel while they waited for calls from their love ones.
|
I refuse to click. Why would I click on this thread even?... well, because I enjoy giving my opinion, and my opinion is that clicking on these pages is frickin' disgusting. Just plain wrong. It's voyeurism to the nth degree, and I can't believe people are doing this.

Ok.. that's really sort of depressing... it's tough to see a glimpse into their lives... :(
Such a terrible, tragic, event.... |
It raises the question: When does a memorial stop being a memorial and start being macabre voyeurism.
I think I know where the answer lies for me but where does it lie for you and how does the immediacy and digital permanence of something like myspace or facebook (or even TFP) change how we view others (both alive and dead)? |
this hits home. It seems so far away, and even awhile ago, but seeing that they were just like me and my friends, well yea, that hits a note that I dont want to hear ring in my ears.
