I don't know if that's intended as a joke, but engaging in high risk behavior is one of the generally accepted reasons for women's longer expected lifespans.
If I recall correctly, the major reasons I read in more than one place were: 1. Men are more likely to engage in high risk behavior, such as extreme sports, dangerous outdoor sports or driving recklessly. 2. Men tend to be more likely to have high risk professions such as lumberjack, firefighter, police officer, soldier, race driver. 3. Men are more likely to smoke than women. 4. Women go to the doctor more often than men, primarily because regular visits to the gynecologist are commonly recommended from the onset of puberty. Men are more likely to actively avoid medical care and are more likely to take pride in never going to the doctor. 5. Women who have had a child and who breastfeed get an immune system boost. 6. There are more genetically sex-linked deadly diseases that affect men disproportionately than there are women. In the United States, for every 100 girls born there are 105 boys born. By the time each cohort reaches 20 years old, this is down to 102-103. By the time they reach 30-40, it's even, and as you get older, it skews more and more towards women. |
gilda, you left out the one about women driving men f*ing nuts...not that there's anything wrong with that.
