				Extra mouse buttons
			 i just got a laser intellimouse explorer and it's got the 2 side buttons that i cant seem to configure. i go to control panel->mouse and i see no options on setting these buttons. i remember back in win 98 when i could do this, but i have xp pro now.

| The GrandDaddy of them all! Location: Austin, TX | actually, nothing came w/ it.  it was OEM (yes i'm cheap). the buttons work w/ ie, as back and forward, but not in general windows. also i can set 'em up in games.

| Insane | even without the intellipoint software, they should do forward and back in windows explorer too.  at least mine do.  picture/fax viewer as well - and others i'm sure i think forward and back are the most useful anyway, and you don't need more fancy drivers installed |

| Stop. Think. Question. Location: Redondo Beach, CA | Windows 2000 and XP should recognize the extra buttons by default.  The IntelliPoint software will allow you to reprogram the buttons. If you're using a KVM switch it might interfere with the buttons. I have a Logitech MX-500 connected to a KVMP (via USB) and the forward/back buttons work fine, however the two extra "scroller" buttons near the scroll wheel won't work. It's an issue with the KVMP switch.
