Why don't you try asking them at some point when they aren't cranking their music? You know, stop them in the parking lot, comment on the weather, and then say (in your most friendly voice) "Hey, I know we all love rock'n roll, but could I ask you a small favor? Any chance you could keep the stereo a little quiter, especially after midnight?"
It might be less confrontational and more cooperative, and they might feel like they are more your peer and thus should respect your needs.
