These two don't seem to communicate very well, or just flat don't like each other. I need to be able to record analog from the VCR and/or 8mm camcorder to the computer, but it's just not cooperating. In the capture mode, when I go to start the capture process, it just gives me an error saying "Capture Error" and that's it. Nothing else. I'm trying to capture in SVCD mode, which the ATi software doesn't allow. It'll do VCD, but not SVCD. If I had a DVD writer, this wouldn't even be an issue, but I don't, so it is.

Here's the system rundown:
Asus A7V8X
AMD Athlon XP2000+ @ 2200MHz, detected as a 2600+
1 x 512MB Crucial PC3200 with tight timings
NVidia GF3 Ti-200 (is this the weak point?)
ATi TV Wonder VE PCI
Creative SB PCI-128
WD 200BB 20GB

I'm trying to capture from a Panasonic PV-8450 VCR, and at times a Sony CCD-TRV37 8mm video camera THROUGH the VCR. Hopefully, that's all the info to help you help me. I can't come up with anything so far, and that error message doesn't tell me much.
