Problems with MP3 playback on DVD player

Hello all, alas another question for the collective intelligence.

As usual, I put a MP3 cd into my DVD player and turned it on. I noticed that every 3-5 seconds there is a small hiccup comming from the audio, almost like winamp being run without sufficient resources.

So, I tried another mp3, burned it onto the disk, and viola, same problem.

I've cleaned the lens in the player a while back, but mp3 playback has been great until now. They only problem that I can think of is a new kind of CD-R media that I recently acquired. But, all other cd-based devices in the house and at school don't have a problem with them at all.

Any thoughts on the cause of my mp3 playback hiccups on my Panasonic DVD-RV31k?
