Yeah i haven't heard of that happening before, thats weird.. Got a cat? I know my friend's cat would get jealous everytime he was on the computer, so she would sit on his mouse or keyboard so he was forced to pet her.. so she could get her attention
Saying that, perhaps it ripped it out.
Worde of advice, like you said with water... well never let pop fall down in your keyboard, the acid in pop will slowly, but surely, eat through the wires until you keyboard is no longer effective.
