I don't think they're complaining out of apathy, the point is that they're about to report you to the department of redundancy dept.
That said, it's not necessary for anyone to resign for being wrong. If that were true noone would hold any sort of office for very long. Perhaps Saddam couldn't nuke Israel in 45 minutes, but he was an ass and even in fucking up the intelligence we still came out with a positive result.
