TFP Forum Guidelines

Welcome to the Tilted Forum Project. Our official founding date is January 20th, 2002. Since that day, the TFP has had one goal: to make the internet a wonderful place for thoughtful people. We know that you can go anywhere for funny pictures, advice, and discussion, but only the TFP provides a place for people to get genuine responses to real discussion on just about any subject. Its users regard it as the most mature forum on the internet and as a testament to this claim, it has been supported entirely through donations from its loyal members for the entirety of its existence.

In order to keep this place running smoothly, we've developed a few rules over the years. While never overbearing, these rules are in place to make your experience here a better, cleaner one. If you find anyone ever breaking the rules, please use the "Report Post" button that is located on each post or send a private message to a staff member.

It should be reminded that we encourage users to make full use of the forum and its topics. At the TFP, we do not judge a member's worth by their post count. Making quality posts and contributing to thoughtful discussion is the best way to make yourself known here. Please feel free to jump right in and add your two cents on any thread and we will accomodate you with an appropriate response.

Standard Guidelines
1. The Tilted Forum Project is intended to be a center of mature, intelligent and productive discussion. Any post that does not fit in with this ideal is subject to removal.
2. To make this quick, here is what is not allowed: trolling, flaming, harassing, spamming, site plugging, advertising, advocacy (charities, polls, causes), immaturity (except in nonsense), images of minors (under 18), shocking images (gore, scat), other people's personal information, sexual advances without consent, and being a cunt in general.
  1. You are allowed to set any link you want as your homepage in your profile.
  2. You may link to your site in your signature ONLY if your site contains a prominent link back to the TFP.
  3. Sexualized images of minors, or images that could be considered illegal or questionable, are strictly forbidden. All photos must be fully clothed, regardless of age (yes, that means even your newborn).
  4. TFP staff may remove images of minors at our discretion. Depending on the reason for removal, TFP staff may follow up with an infraction or banning, again at our discretion.
  5. If you are posting pictures of your own children, it is best to do so in a more private forum such as Member's Playground or Tilted Portraits. (see "User Permissions and Promotions" below)
3. You must be at least 18 years of age (in mind and body) to view and post on the TFP.
Thread Starting Guidelines
1. With the exception of a few specific forums, this site is centered around DISCUSSION and therefore all threads must have some conversational purpose.
2. If an external resource (news article, story, image, etc.) is being posted for discussion, the thread starter must quote the relevant part of the content along with their own thoughts and opinions on the topic. That is to say, you can't just post a link or a quote without adding your own words.
3. If possible, check to make sure that you're not starting a topic that is already being discussed. It is OK to rehash a topic that hasn't been covered in a while.
4. Please follow up with your threads and post in them frequently. A good thread starter will tend to their replies to keep the discussion moving.
User Permissions and Promotions
1. Upon registration, users have permission to access about 95% of the board's topics and features. This includes profiles, galleries, avatars, signatures, private messages and chat. Some of these features require a few posts to access to weed out spammers.
2. There are a few features and forums that are only accessible through promotion: Playground, Portraits, Exhibition, custom titles.These are tiered and may require a few promotions to access.
3. To be promoted initially, you must meet 3 requirements: You must be a member for more than a month, you must have a minimum post count of 50, and you must pass a moderator inspection of the quality of your posts. If you believe that you deserve early access to a specific board, such as Tilted Exhibition, you may ask a staff member, who will put it before the entire staff. We want to know why you want early access, what other member knows you that would vouch for you (if applicable), and anything else you think is relevant.
4. Members also have the opportunity to become part of the moderator staff. To be elligible, you must maintain a clean record, a prominent place in the community through continued quality contribution, and you must submit an application when they are called for by the staff.
5. Access to Tilted Exhibition must be continually earned. If you are not regularly posting elsewhere, you will eventually lose access. See that forum for futher details.
Donations
1. Currently, there are only two ways to donate to the TFP: PayPal and Snail Mail.
2. To donate through PayPal, please send the donation to: halxtfp@gmail.com
3. To donate through the mail, please send a private message to Halx to request the address.
Section-Specific Guidelines
1. Ladies Lounge
  1. No men are allowed to post in the Ladies Lounge. If you are a male and you happen to post there, you will receive a warning.
  2. If you are a male and you would like to add your opinion to a topic in the Ladies Lounge, send your post to a female moderator and they will post your message for you.
2. Tilted Entertainment
  1. Any spoiler material must be presented in spoiler BB tags.
3. Tilted Exhibition
  1. Requesting pictures from other members is not allowed.
4. Chat
